“Shrimp a la Papi - THE BEST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Very fresh seafood, excellent spices and sauces, even the soups and salads were amazing. And if you don't like seafood, just go and get a Pizza in the other restaurant and bring it to your table. You can certainly not do this everywhere!

“Value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

La Casita de Papi is a little bit on the expensive side, but the food is good and service excellent. Didn't have fish though, but tried the crepe ham and cheese. Very tasty sauce there with coconut and some fruit in it. Would have it again!

“so delicious !!!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

When you walk along the beach of Cabarete you see many restaurants !!!
But many of them are empty or only half full.
When we arrived at night at "la Casita de Papi" all the tables on the beach were occupied.
So we took a drink at the bar waiting for a free table.
The guy who welcomed us (an Australian guy) was very smiling and friendly.
He tried to speak French but after a few sentences we switched to English ;-)
We ordered the famous camarones (shrimps) and langostinas (lobster) a la Papi ( Papy style).
And the meal was really delicious !!!
And the quantity was sufficient. We finished the dinner with the stomach full.
So don't miss it. During your stay at Cabarete you have to taste this dish at least once.
The recipe is kept secret.
The original owner of the restaurant, Papi (a French guy), invented it and made it famous then he retired. The 2 new associates just continue making this secret potion and the success goes on.
Price is not so cheap but it is worth it. 30% of taxes will be added to the restaurant price list.
20 euros per dish = 26 USD = 1000 pesos Dominicanos (with tax included)

“must try!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

a little fancier than the other restaurants in town, and just amazing food! Lobster and shrimp a la papi means a great big pan of lobster tails or shrimp in an amazing creamy garlicky sauce. Tons of food makes the slightly higher price well worth it. Great for a romantic night – sit upstairs for beautiful ocean view – or equally great for a group of friends to enjoy a long dinner and drinks (service is not fast – so carve out some time)
