“Dream Wedding Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We just returned from having our dream wedding in the Dominican Republic. Even though we had our wedding at a friend's place in the DR, Barefoot Beach Pad was extremely accommodating to our friends and family. Our family that stayed at Barefoot could not stop talking about how amazing it was, so we found ourselves spending the day there as well. The pool was perfect and the cheeseburger was the best my husband has ever had! Ben, the owner, was onsite and very attentive to our needs and desires. He's the type of guy that you could have a beer with and chat the day away (and we did). They even hooked us up with a scooter for the week and we had a blast exploring the island with it. Thank you so much Barefoot Beach Pad! WE can't wait to visit again! XOXOXO Mrs. and Mr. Austin (Michele and Jarrett)

Room Tip: All the rooms are amazing...get a ocean view!

I wanted "out of town" and didn't want a "resort" property. La Rinconada is about a mile into Cabarete via beach walk or roadway walk. (I did both daily for a week.) Hector (owner's brother. speaks English well) the manager was extremely accommodating. Andres the cook, gardener, etc. was great. We spoke Spanish all week long.

I had a corner, 2nd floor room that was like a large studio apt. Full kitchen, fridge and 2 balconies. I shopped at Janet's (grocery store) and ate exactly what I wanted. Andres also made me smoothies (free!) or eggs/toast in the AM. This was probably the cleanest, friendliest, most economical place I've ever stayed in the Caribbean.

Room Tip: 2, 5 unit buildings. Both have views and look at the pool. I stayed in the one closest to the ocean...

We stayed here in Feb 2013. Secure parking on site and free wifi in the rooms. The apartments, each with a balcony were large and basically furnished with a comfortable bed. The room was clean and the kitchenette adequate. The location is quiet and the apartments are around a pool and right on the beach. Breakfast is provided in the small bar area near the pool. We thought the rate represented good value. That said the apartments are about 2kms from the centre of Cabarete and when we tried to walk into the town along the beach in the morning we were cut off by the rising tide and turned back. We had a car so getting into town in the evening was no problem but if you did not have your own transport you would need a taxi. The owner is not always on site but can be contacted by phone through the on site staff that do not speak English. We made our booking through booking.com which gave the meal plan as breakfast included. What is included should be clearly stated on the priced breakfast menu in the rooms as this caused an embarrassing hassle with the on site staff at the end of our stay which had to be sorted out with a phone call to the owner Hector. For a good meal try the small La Terrasse Restaurant on the access to the beach in Cabarete. Excellent French dishes.

Obviously this guest misunderstood what our free "continental breakfast" includes. And we have to thank him for his feedback because we realized that to avoid any confusion in the future we had to specify that our "continental breakfast" consists of: coffee, tea, bread, butter, jam and tropical fruits or smoothies.

Our return trip to Barefoot Beach was every bit as outstanding as our first- even better as the room was right out in front on the beachfront with the waves practically under our balcony. The property is beautiful, the beach front outstanding, but what sets the whole experience apart is the people. Hector, Andres and Andrea take care of you like no one else. They make you feel like family.
From the spotlessness of the rooms thanks to Andrea, to the attentiveness of Andres at the grill and bar and Hector's advising and setting us up with everything we could need this team creates an unbeatable experience. Of personal note was Ariana - Andres' and Andrea's adorable daughter who brought me fresh flowers every day. We have already reserved a place for ourselves next year and only wish it could be sooner!

As the name suggest the Barefoot Beach Pad Hotel is just that, a barefoot beach pad. Don't expect any fancy reception area, no shampoos and lotions in the rooms, and any fancy restaurants. But if you want a very nice and quite location with a beautiful view of the ocean then this is your place. It's close enough to the crazy wild part of Caberete, but afterwards you can go back to a very relation hotel. Don't expect room service, but ask Andres who's the gardener, pool boy, chef and bar tender, and he'll do anything for you. Nice size room, and excellent hot water pressure.

Room Tip: I had room A-3 with a small first level balcony facing the pool and ocean.

We had spent a week in the busy downtown area of Cabarete and then had a week at Barefoot Beach Pad. What a peaceful place. We were greeted by Andre (spoke no english, but got Hector for us). Beautiful property, great rooms, amazing experience overall. We had room A1, with two patios and front row view of the ocean and pool. There is nothing we would change about our stay at this hotel. We would walk the beach into town to go to Janet's supermarket or a restaurant and catch a motorcycle ride back. So easy and a relaxed pace. This is the spot to be if want to be away from the bustle of the town, away from the kite surfers, although we saw a few. We could eat at the little bar/restaurant, but mostly opted to cook in our room and eat on the patio. Romantic, private and always felt safe. Security came on duty each evening as well. When we come back to Cabarete, this is the place we will stay....and probably bring some friends along with us!

Room Tip: Rooms on the beach side are obviously going to have a better view. We want A1 again or the room abo...
