“Nice but old hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

The hotel was nice but very old. The room were not very well maintained and the shower area was not very clean. The reception guy at the night we arrived was helpfull and gave us lots of good advices on the city and the area but the woman that was there during the morning didn't knew a thing, even the prices she gave us on the hotel services were wrong.
The Wifi was terrible and didn't work during most of our stay, but they let us use the buisness center of the Crown plaza hotel (Same hotel different reception).
The breakfast was excellent but it's not included.

We stayed at the Holiay Inn Tuxtla for five days as we took tours to different parts of the state.

Although it is across the street from a shopping mall there wasn't a lot to see near by and not that much to see in Tuxtla for that matter. It is convenient to the airport and a nice jumping off points to places like San Critobal de las Casas or even Palenque if you have some time.

The hotel was about average. Not sure if it was due to the holidays but service was just so so. A phone was broken for two days before it was fixed, the ice machine didn't work, just little details that tend to add up although it was a fair value.

We began a tour of Mayan ruins in Tuxtla Gutierrez. Our tour company booked this hotel for us. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the hotel. The lobby was still undergoing renovation, however, this did not hamper registration or concierge desk. The staff were all attentive and caring. The breakfast buffet was spectacular with a myriad of choices that would satisfy even a picky eater. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from a large shopping mall with many restaurant choices. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and were extremely pleased with the high quality of food and gourmet choices. The pool area was well-maintained and shared with adjacent Crowne Plaza hotel. The rooms were a little small, but air conditioning worked well. I appreciated free wireless internet access in room.

We stayed this hotel before starting our Chiapas trip. We arrived late in the evening and took a taxi arriving this hotel at that time, it took too much time somebody coming to let the taxi in. The check-in time was ok. The room was a little old the amenities were worn. The bathroom and shower place needed to be refurbished. There was no complementary water in the room and the mini bar was empty. The room size was fair. There is a Crowne Plaza hotel adjacent to this hotel. There is one beautiful pool in courtyard between the breakfast hall/reception and the room. It was beautiful, however, I believe the pool should have more privacy and should not been on the way to the rooms.Breakfast was Ok but not too many options. We did not go to discover the area in the neighborhood since, there was no time. Totally, hotel was good. However, if I wanted to stay more, certainly I would have changed my room.

We thoroughly were pleased the moment we entered the lobby. The staff was very courteous. Our room was exactly how we had imagined. We have no complaints. Conveniently located across from a large mall.

I stayed only one night and did not take advantage of any of the
facilities. When trying to find the hotel it is worth knowing that the only
prominent signage is for the conjoined Crowne Plaza Hotel. The check-in
process was smooth, valet parking is offered but totally unnecessary and
the complimentary wireless internet worked just fine. The bed was
comfortable, the bathroom felt a little dingy and outdated, though it was
very spacious and the toiletries were good (not designer names, but
perfectly fine). The room was quiet despite being on the same-side of the
complex as a nightclub that was in full flow when I arrived, quiet due to
the layour of the hotel and location of the rooms - this had been well
thought-out at the design stage. Check-out too was very smooth. I paid
USD92 when booking late, which was ok, if a little on the over-priced side
and not worth it if all you intend to do, as I was, is to sleep the night.
The hotel pool as plenty big enough for decent exercise.

The hotel was clean if a bit old, nice grounds and pool area (we didn’t have a chance to use). We had Sunday brunch, a big selection of breakfast and lunch items, with good service. There is a disco (at least on Sat night) that was very loud, so I was glad our room was far away. If noise bothers you, be sure and ask for a distant room.
