“Very Good accomodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

The hotel stay was very good. My room was fine and I had no issues with it. The buffet I would rate as excellent. The hotel rates were reasonable. I am a Platinum member with Holiday Inn but for some reason this hotel was not eligible for points. This was the only disappointment.

Service is good as usual Internet speed is slow like in old times.

Some of the rooms lack of iron or hairdryer if you call front desk to ask for one they will answer with a question "is not one in the closet?".

They should pay attention to their answers it is very quiet and relaxing hotel you can sleep through the night without being interrupted.

A/C is good but may be a remote control could help my room control panel was not fully attached to the wall.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn for two nights during a mid-week business trip. Check-in was quick and efficient and at all times at least one person at the desk spoke English. My room was on the ground floor with window facing the driveway. I kept the curtains closed for privacy and was not disturbed by any noise from outside.

The room was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed, tv, work desk and refrigerator. I found the room provided adequate lighting and multiple switches to turn lights off an on from different parts of the room. The bathroom was also spacious with plenty of counter space. It should be noted that there is no actual tub, but rather an area for the shower which is separated by use of a shower curtain. Despite not having a divider, the water from the shower seemed to be contained in the general shower area. My biggest complaint in the room is that I could not figure out how to work the A/C. The humidity of Cd. del Carmen could be felt in the room and for the first night I could not determine how to get the A/C to blow cool air. I woke up many times the first night sweating and had to remove blankets and clothing to be comfortable. On the second night though, my constant button pressing on the A/C panel must have triggered something and I had a comfortable night's sleep. My colleagues had similar experiences.

I dined at the restaurant for one lunch and two breakfasts. I selected the buffet option for all meals and found them to be more than adequate and downright delicious. The hotel did a nice job of offering both Mexican cuisine and Western options, so I was able to try some local fare. I would highly recommend having at least one meal at the in house restaurant.

The location seemed convenient to the airport and there were several dining options within walking distance. There is also a large supermarket one block down the road where you can self-cater and purchase other dry goods.

Overall, the staff was courteous, the room was comfortable and the restaurant was great. I would stay at the Holiday Inn if in Cd. del Carmen again.

Nothing is perfect, but everything is pleasant. The hotel is of medium size, and has an aura of a soft and kind environment. The enclosed court with a small pool, jacuzi, direct access to massage area and gym, and palms is cosy and comfortable. Choice of breakfast dishes is rather limited, but quite sufficient. One definitely can relax here after a business day

Room Tip: I would recommend ground floor with a view to the enclosed court

This is a very good bet for business travel. The property is conveniently located and has all the amenities normally associated with a Holiday Inn. The location provides safe walking access to a good variety of restaurants. I've stayed here over 100 nights per year for the last 2 1/2 years. The hotel is slightly 'faded'. Upgrades and renovations progress at a moderate pace during off peak times. The improved and expanded gym and pool refurbishment are welcome recent improvements.

The hotel's central courtyard is spacious, pleasant and relaxing. It is one main reason why I've rarely tried another property. Reading under a tree is great after a busy day. My wife occasionally joins me on trips and the courtyard/pool is a big plus for her. Wireless service is great in the common areas and a little spotty otherwise. Concrete walls seem to impair coverage in some rooms. I carry a personal router and use the wired connection. Most rooms have a small or medium size fridge, which I use and appreciate. The central air conditioning is good and much quieter than the wall units that many other Carmen properties have.

The staff is friendly and have always worked hard to meet my needs. Basic Spanish language skills or a smile are helpful. The restaurant is good in general and the 4th floor bar can be good fun. Some items, such as the soups and the 'Shrimp al Diablo' are favorites. Customization is handled with a smile. The breakfast buffet is very good.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are very pleasant.

As stated by other reviewers, a useful business hotel. A bit drab and with coffee shop food perhaps more catered to US tastes than typical Mexican food- it really was the most boring I had in all of Mexico. that said though- the room was clean and the hotel had a safe ambiance.

The Faro bar on the 4th floor opens at 7pm and has a 2 for 1 happy hour at 8- which is useful!!

I would probably try another option on my next trip to Carmen- just to keep searching for something better....

We had a Fast check-in and check-out. Nice staff at the front desk. They have good restaurant with great breakfast and a good bar on the fourth floor to relax. Rooms are ok, clean and functional. Wi-Fi worked very well. It’s a nice place to stay if you are on a business trip.
