“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

I have no complaints about this hotel. For those passing through Chetumal, it makes for good value. The staff are helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is convenient for the bus station and just wandering about town.

We called in advance to see if we could keep our rental car here while we were in Belize. We were told with pleasure they would keep it secure for 50 pesos a night. Based on that assurance we booked. We checked in and found 2 towels. We asked for more since we are a family of 4! We were told rooms are for 2 people so we couldn't have more. What?!? My children who were in the booking don't get to take showers in this sweaty city? Like we're going to steal their dingy towel scraps? Finally they parted with 1 more towel. Then at 8 am construction started upstairs!!! Bang--bang--bang for hours. Guys? Do you have guests here. Then the WORST as we were parking in the corner per their instructions a women who described herself as the "encargada" harasses us about the parking arrangement. She decided 2 hours before our boat left that she was going to try and grub money out of us. I told her very strongly that we had an arrangement and that now was not the time to be demanding more money. Well I ended up paying more when we returned, but the incident was extremely unpleasant and caused a lot of stress. My husband was very concerned that she would vindictively damage the car while we were away. Good wifi and a/c. Door would barely open and had wierd white stuff on it. Avoid headaches-- other hotels appear nicer and more sane.

Like many travellers, I needed to stay overnight in Chetumal as part of the well-worn path between the Yucatan and the Belizean Cayes. Chetumal has a plethora of options, many of which have no internet presence, have somewhat simple facilities and are aimed more at domestic travellers. Hotel Juliet is a slightly more upscale option, in a convenient location on Heroes Avenue in the geographic centre of town.

Around 600 pesos - you might get a better rate as a walk-in haggler - gets you a comfortable, clean, quiet, airconditioned room with TV and nice large bathroom. Towels were a little on the thin and short side, and the lack of handtowels and bathmat is something that should really come with a hotel at this pricepoint.

Minor criticisms aside, this was an enjoyable stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Last time in Chetumal we stayed in the Holiday Inn next door which was a great if slightly more expensive stay.
Hotel Juliette is a pretty new place, rooms are immaculate, reception was efficient and friendly, wifi works in the room even here on the 3rd floor, if I had to moan it would be that there were no coat hangers in the wardrobe and no towel rails in the bathroom, as we only stayed a couple of nights we didn't really have a problem with this.
I would come here again.

With an average occupancy rate of 45% in Chetumal, competition is fierce. Los Cocos Hotel has a huge sign advertising rooms for 500 pesos (US$40). Skip it. For the same price, the Juliette is almost new. The rooms are spacious with two dressers and a closet, two comfortable double beds, an excellent shower, good a/c, good wi-fi, TV, desk&chair, spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly, some English, infinite coffee, indoor parking (drive through the lobby). There lots of places to eat nearby, a good market across the street and lots of cheap shopping. Quite a relief after super-touristy Tulum. btw Carnaval is happening!

We travelled over from San Pedro, Belize to Chetumal and decided to book a night here before we jetted off to Mexico City the following day.

The room was clean, tidy and smart, yes a little rough around the edges but if you want to pay Holiday inn prices its only across the road! (I have heard its condition is much the same)

When we arrived the aircon in the room was a little noisy/rattling, needing a good nights sleep we asked to move, within seconds we had keys to another room.

Wifi was acceptable in the room, not too quick but good for emails etc.

Not much to do locally and food options was not great, so after reading some info we decided to hop in a taxi and go to the American Plaza in a taxi (10 mins) this should be between 15-20 pesos (do not pay more! Taxi drivers will try it on) at the shopping centre there is a coffee shops, food court and many decent stores.
There is even a cinema complex where I saw my 1st ever 3D movie! (yes, in english!) What a great way to waste an afternoon in the lack lustre Chetumal.

We expected a dull day walking the streets instead we stocked up on backpacker luxuries and caught a movie!
