“The appropriate Hostel for a budgetter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012 via mobile

You won't regret of staying in this hostel as the room is very clean, nice and drinking water is provided in every room. It has a clean bathroom inside completed with free shampoo and bath foam. The manager is very friendly and kind, he explains every visitor all directions, buses and tourist sites around Sokcho.

What other reviewers said are so true. From Incheon our first day arrival, we headed to Sokcho by bus. House hostel is so near to Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal. Mr Yoo the owner is very friendly and nice. He gave us so many recommendation how to go to the interesting places in Sokcho and also nice eating places there. Our first night there is wonderful, we all can sleep peacefully. The bed was so comfy and warm with heating matt underneath, I don't feel like sleeping in a stranger place. Bedroom and bathroom are clean, even room a bit smaller and hostel looks a bit old, but overall are excellent with very reasonable price. Surely will recommend friends and relative to stay there.

Everything was excellent about the hostel. It was very cheap and very clean with nice comfortable beds. The hostel felt like home and was very well decorated with souvenirs from all over the world. Breakfast was nice (cereal, milk, tea, coffee, bread and jam).

The owner was VERY helpful and very nice. When he arrived, he took a map and gave us wonderful tips on where to visit and how to get there. He recommended an amazing Korean BBQ buffet (10 000 won per person) which was also an amazing culinary experience. I cannot think of anything that is negative about The House Hostel.

If you are visiting Seoraksan, this is definitely a place to stay.

First of all, i would like to said thank you very much to the House Hostel owner , Mr. Yoo for helping me to openned my luggage which is seriusly stucked. The overall hostel very impressed me with a warm and lovely stay. Location wise is very convenient to take bus 7 or 7-1 in front of the hostel street (3min walk from the hostel) to seoraksan mountain or others bus number to most of the place of interest in sokcho city. For further information, you may ask the hostel owner. He is very helpful and informative. Futhermore, he will brief you when you check in. The hostel just 15 min walk from/to the sokcho intercity bus terminal. 5 min drive from the sokcho express bus terminal (fare around KRW2500). Family mart convenient store just 2 min from hostel. The hostel offer free american style breakfast. The milk has a fabulous taste with corn cereal.Must try. Clean and nice bedroom. Worry free. Hope they can keep it up with their good work. May stay agains in the future.

Has a great location where it is near to the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal, Sokcho beach, light house, bus stop(bus to Mt Sorak), convenience stalls & etc. Anyways, Sokcho city is not that big, you can visit most of the sightseeing, downtown & beaches by walking or buses.
The owner and staff of hostel are able to communicate in English and friendly in service. The owner will give you a brief of Sokcho sightseeing before check-in. Eg. the fees, route, direction, recommended places & etc.
The hostel was quite nice and unique in decoration. Rooms are neat and clean. It's just like a home.. Can have TV watching, chit chat in the kitchen/ balcony with new friends & etc..
Will stay here again for my next visit~!

easy booking and i had to get even some extra nights.)
location is great.. everything important is walkable and u can always catch a nearby bus (recommend a trip to Naksansa) or get a free bicycles from hostel.
Mr Yoo has some good info and is willing to help, but i don't think he understands that much english .)
breakfast included, one ajuma didn't even let me clean after myself and did it for me.
During weekends and holidays the price gets higher but still worth the spacious room with a bath, tv, fridge and comfy bed.. The common area and kitchen is very cozy and there is really a home feeling.)

As a previous reviewer had mentioned, The House Hostel is more of a B&B, rather than a hostel. It is beautifully furnished, clean, cozy and simply lovely. For 30000 won a night (we visited during the Christmas period), it is really too good to be true! :)

Mr Yoo is a wonderful owner, he gives all his guests a 15-min introductory briefing about the city, the places to visit, the recommended restaurants and so on. (Yes, the BBQ buffet joint, Wangshiprigoihanmadang, was fantastic. All you can eat for 10000 won!) The nearest bus stop is 1 minute away, and you can get to most places from there (Seoraksan National Park, Seorak Waterpia, etc).

The "living room" and kitchen were gorgeously decorated, and with soft, jazzy Christmas songs playing throughout the day, we really indulged ourselves in the Christmas mood.

We will definitely go back again for a longer stay in future. And to Gulumi, the adorable house dog, we miss you! ;)
