“Remote”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

I have been there just last week (April 11-14), room is quite clean, cheap and nice front desk. the downside is you have to deposit P500.00 for the remote on top of the advance deposit. Water is yellowish and need to be filtered..Breakfast should be included in the rate, wi-fi upgrade to all rooms if possible not just in the lobby.

Nice that it is near the city proper and plenty of nightlife, in fact its beside Starr KTV Bar, Lexis Grill, Inasal, etc.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

Stayed in this hotel for 1 night with my family on our trip to CDO/Camiguin. Located in downtown CDO. Walking distance to different restaurant and establishment.

A lot of room for improvement. Staff in the reception area not too attentive to the needs of the clients. Security is a little lax, maybe because they have no reported accident in the building.

Good enough for the cost I have paid.

I have stayed this hotel already 2 years ago,.when it had only 3 floors,.now 7. Suite room is spacious with small lcd tv and refridgerator. Laminate floor my room was already broken what is not a good choice to hotel floor needed to be made up daily. Rate 1200 pesos/ night this is good value for the money to few nights stay. Location excellent ,Caltex just front of where drinks can be bought to fridgerator, taxis always available and new Ayala just 500 meters away.

New Dawn Pensionne is starting to look a bit dated with dark hallways (saving electricity). The hotel is near the downtown area and next to a nightclub. There is a 24hr Caltex station across the road that has a mini convenience store in it which is very useful. This said, we found the room to be very quiet at night. The hotel charged extra for a mattress on the floor as we had an extra person with us.

The bedding did included a top sheet, a bottom sheet and a blanket. The pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and included soap in packets. The AC is old style and a bit noisey. The TV was LCD qualiity with a decent cable package.

This hotel does not pretend to be an upscale hotel. It is a Pensionne and it meets the expectations very well. The staff are kind and the foyer includes free internet. Parking is secure and there is a decent Filipino eatery next door at very good prices.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

I stayed here for 2 nights, on account of some excellent white water rafting that the town is famous for.

This hotel is a little dingy..in the sense that the room feels old and not very crisp. The beds have an ancient cheap quality synthetic blanket material bedcover...which I removed and didnt even want to touch..I just slept in the sheets. One of the bedsheets had an ink stain on..even though it looked and smelt like it was freshly washed.. I guess it was permanently stained with ink or something.. The curtain had a similar stain.

The floor of the room was tiled, which I prefer as tiles are more hygienic than carpets. However, some of the tiles looked permanently stained.

The bathroom was very basic..the washstand was tiny. The water pressure was good and the shower was great.

There was no safe deposit box in the room even though when I was reserving with them via email I had asked specifically and they had said yes.

The room lighting is flourescent white...which does not make for a very good impression of the room. If only the lighting was yellow/warm, it may look better.

The window was tiny..even though I was staying in a room good for three (one queen size bed and one single bed).

The wifi is only available in the lobby, but is free to use. There are no toiletries apart from soap (so bring your own) and no complimentary water (buy some from StarMart across the hotel).

All said, I stayed here for the price of the room..about 1000Php when I reserved. But in future I would prefer to stay elsewhere..

I suppose it is a safe enough place for those who are very sensitive to price..and those who do not demand everything to be in crisp, pristine condition.

I w

This place is new. The lobby, the halls, the room looks new. We were showed the room when we asked to see if the room was good. And we proceeded with the check-in. Looks like that was the last room available for that day.

The room has air conditioning, LCD TV with digital TV programming, hot and cold water, refrigerator (empty) and a closet. The bathroom is clean and new soap and towels are provided daily.

The front desk were less than courteous but were professional. They don't smile much but got whatever you needed from them. We didn't need much from them after check-in until check-out time.

The place is located in a busy part of CDO. Parking is available for about 15 cars or vans.

We got a room at the back of the hotel, so it was quiet and had a good sleep.

The entrance has a sticker "Recommended by www.tripadvisor.co.uk". Well, I will do the same.

Room Tip: Better to get a room at the back or near the back portion of the hotel for a quiet stay.

The hotel is just enough to support the basic needs. The rooms are clean and the everything is functionally working. There was no moment where I have to call someone to repair things inside my room. However, I have an issue with the elevator because even though it is digital, it is not quite responsive to choose the floor I would go to. I have to press further and it still does not respond, well the stairs quite come in handy. Overall, the experience is pleasant and the location of the hotel is great. =)
