We tried Chef Doy during one of our regular trips to Naga City. It's the resto's apparent fame that enticed us to give it a try. The food they offer is indeed something new and unique particularly for the long list of Naga's restaurants. Local dishes served with a twist in terms of preparation and presentation. After ordering, we were so hyped while waiting for the food to be served. But, I personally, was disappointed with one of our food. The 'Pininyahang Manok' was no extraordinary food. Few small pieces of chicken wings and huge chunks of pineapple. For me, that should have been termed as 'Minanukang Pinya'. Anyway, food wasn't bad really except that it did not meet my expectations given Chef Doy's popularity.
Another thing that should be somehow resolved is their dining area. The space is very limited. Again, given their popularity, I am quite convinced that the place isn't an ideal dining venue when packed by patrons.
Right now, I have no plans of trying again Chef Doy but let's see. I'd like to treat that Pininyahang Manok as in isolated incident. And since there were just the 2 of us, we ordered a limited number of food and probably we just didn't picked the star. Good food and place, but not as excellent as others see it. Still, worth the dine.
