“The hidden treasures of Bicol”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

I spent 4d3n in the province of Bicol. Two nights were spent in Naga where we visited the Penafrancia Church and musuem and the Hydro Hot springs. The hot spring had 4 different pools of varying temperatures. The warm water was very soothing to our tired bodies even if it was drizzling a bit. While in Naga, we ate at the Bob Marlin Grill and Restaurant which served very delicious Bicolano dishes. We stayed in Villa Caceres which was located at the heart of the restaurant row of Naga. Travelling across town from Naga to Legaspi, we were greeted by some flood waters along the way due to a storm. Our tour of the Hoyop Hoyopan Cave and Kawa-kawa Hill was postponed to the following day. We proceeded with our ATV Experience in Mayon (the activity that Zach Effron did in Mayon) and we were delighted with our experience. Remember to haggle for price rental as we did not and after paying, we found out if you haggled you can get it for 1000 pesos less. The tour guides were very nice doubling as our photographers. They know exactly which spot is the best and know of some camera tricks to our delight. We drove to the lava formation along Mayon and had to trek a few meters to go up to certain level of the volcano. The following day, we had our tour to Kawa-kawa hill to see life size statues depicting the Stations of the Cross. The trek to the first 4 stations proved to be challenging as the hill was steep. But from the 6th to the end it was fairly easy. Up atop the hill, you can see a majestic view. It is called Kawa-kawa, short for kawali (pan). We also went to Hoyop-hoypan Cave. The cave was well lighted for you one to admire the stalagmites and stalactites. We were then brought to a deer farm. We never knew we had deer in our country. This breeding farm is a government project. In Legaspi, I recommend you have your meal in La Roca, the best meal we had was in this restaurant. We also had a taste of sili (chili), tinutong (puffed somewhat burned rice), pili and malunggay (moringa) ice cream in the 1st Colonial Restaurant. This trip was overall excellent despite the rains because it was spent with the whole family. It was a bonding time for the family.

“My perfect cone.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I've visited the Mayon volcano twice in my life and it never failed to amaze me.

Make sure you visit on a bright sunny day so no fog nor clouds can prevent you from seeing this wonderful form of nature.

“Hide and seek - fortunately a 5 minute window to marvel at Majestic Mayon.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We had been angling for a view of the Mayon volcano. When we arrived it was covered in clouds. We went up the Lingnon Hills and it was still covered with clouds. As we prepared to leave the hill, there was Mayon with all its spendour. The wait was worth it.

“Good shape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Superb shape, love to have one at home....a real landmark to be seen from all around. Didn't expect it to be so clearly visible from all over. Went whale-shark spotting/swimming at Donsol, and good 'ole Mayon stands out all the way.

Clear skies give a good backdrop. Next time would like to get a photo of all the passengers who have just got off the plane taking photos of the volcano with the sign in the foreground requesting passenger not to take photos
