“Great Hotel with Magnificent View But...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2010

Great facilities and good food concessionaire (C2), room is nice and spacious, clean and well maintained. However, during peak season, it seems that the Hotel is understaff. We arrived there at 2pm but was told by the receptionist to stay for a couple of minutes since our room is not yet ready. To think that we've booked in advance. Another client ahead of us walk ed-in with her family, paid the accomodation and was told to come back at 2pm. She was already charged and when they came back, they were told that their room was not yet ready. The reason? Because they are walk-in clients and they've not booked in advance. But what about me? I was booked in advance and still my room was not yet prepared by 2pm.

Aside from this drawback, we still had a nice time. Thanks to the great weather in Tagaytay.

we checked in on june 12... suppose to be a father's day vacation but turned out to be a nightmare. they gave us 4 complimentary bottled water then my mom called house keeping to ask for an extra blanket at toothbrush. so someone came well actually 2 people came in a girl and a guy. the guy was holding the blanket on top was the toothbrush and a bottle of hidden spring water. he gave the blanket and toothbrush to my mom as well as the water. it's actually weird already coz we didn't even ask for water... so anyway we placed all the bottled water on the chiller... 4pm time for the medicine of my dad. mom got 1 bottled water (it was sealed) opened it and pour it in the glass gave it to my dad.. then suddenly my dad was like "there's something wrong with the water, it's strong" (fyi, my dad's 57 years old and he suffers from parkinson's and he's also very sensitive when it comes to medicines). his senses are not that good anymore that's why he didn't smell anything. he drank about 2tbsp of the "water"... so we smelled the bottled water, and it was really really strong like some kind of soap or something. we complained and found out that it was AIR FRESHENER!!! pure air freshener in our bottled water.... cut the story short my dad is in the hospital right now his doctor is furious and demanded that he needs to be confined coz the components of the air freshener are toxic... we're gonna sue them if they don't pay the hospital bill.

The much-vaunted view did not disappoint. The view was awesome. Rooms are clean and comfortable enough. Food was great and eating at the skylounge was an experience. However, I think they ought to check their fish stocks - something fishy in the fish dishes and I couldnt appreciate them.
Wi-fi service was fast and i didnt miss out my emails or catching up with friends. My major beef was with the price - quite steep if you ask me. But if you can afford it (company paid for our stay), its a good place to stay.

Summit Ridge Hotel gives you the best view of Taal Volcano and lets you experience the coldest spot in Tagaytay City. All of its guest rooms and suites face the panoramic Taal. Make no compromises when it comes to comfort and luxury with the hotel's shopping, dining, and recreational facilities, which include a swimming pool, a gym, and an indoor badminton/basketball court.

We were dissatisfied. We stayed in 5 rooms. Rooms were not worth the price compared to other hotels. Our package included free dinner and breakfast. However, the food was terrible - cold, salty, some dish had a weird taste. Just not right. . To think that we were to greet the new year in the hotel, the festive mood was disrupted. What was supposed to be a celebration turned out to be a fasting for the whole clan since the restaurants outside the hotel closed early. Our family including young children stayed up late to enjoy the fireworks display they promised. But it was too close to the hotel, one could not see it well since we'd be afraid to get hit by it. In fact, one of our family member was hit while viewing it from the terrace. Huh!! We're never never never going back there. We saw some guests complained at the front desk too. The hotel is newly opened so we expected it to be highly impressive - but what happened was the opposite. Except for the nice view of Taal, nothing else is good. Indeed a holdup.

Stayed in a 2-bedroom suite that has a fantastic view. And that's about all there is. We were surprised to check-in into a 2-bedroom suite that had a single bathroom. Never mind that 3 people can use it for different needs but totally not for the price.
Hotel plumbing a major problem--let me not get into gory details on this. Suffice to say the hotel was very poorly constructed. Although the engineering staff responded immediately--the problem should not even exist for a new hotel.

PRO: "Summit Ridge hotel In Tagaytay is a solid two and one half Star hotel! One of Tagaytays top ten. Excellent location. Neat and clean. Breakfast was good but the coffee needs a better grind of bean. Pool was a bright spot. Beds acceptable. Good staff. One word to describe it all ? " Decent " for sure! RECOMMEDED!

CONS: Asking room rate is OVERPRICED! Otherwise "October advertised Promo rate of 2777 Peso" is right on target. Room is a bit small.
