“Official but relaxing visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Summit Ridge's location is so ideal for travelers since it is in a complex where everything is just within your reach. The rooms are clean and spacious....only the corridors are quite dim at night time. Staff are courteous and accommodating, Breakfast is varied though not a lot of choices compared to five-star hotels in Manila. The balcony gives a lot of home feel, what with Tagaytay's breezy weather...a nice breathtaking view of Taal Lake. Worth coming back to with family.

Luv luv summit ridge hotel! From easy check in to friendly staff and spacious room! Summit ridge is centrally located, you can walk few steps and you will reach robinsons supermarket, several restaurants etc. its also across josephines restaurant if you want filipino food. Buffet breakfast is ok, not a lot of choices but still ok. Attentive and honest staff also, once i left my ipad upon check out, the receptionist called me through my cellphone and informed me. We went back to get it, since they called immediately we dont have to travel far just to return to the hotel. So thankful for that!

Room Tip: Choose lower floor so you wont hear the strong wing banging through the glass door in the terrace

The Hotel is situated across the road from Lake Taal, about centre of town. It is in a complex which includes a large supermarket, appliance store, and several fast food restaurants.
The Hotel appointments are decidedly motel-like. It was not particularly shabby, but not at all elegant or especially comfortable. I stayed on a lower floor and could not see the lake. But I can guess that from high floors one can. The lower floor traffic noise, with trucks and horns at all hours, was quite bothersome and I didn't sleep well. Room cleaning was rudimentary, but acceptable.
The behind the scenes facilities were a disappointment, Kitchen hygiene was a concern, with many kitchen lights and equipment not working, and I didn't observe proper hand wash basin or procedures being followed. The on site signature restaurant (C2 a local chain) was closed for renovation, and if it was a broken down as the hotel kitchen it surely needed it. The general attentiveness to detail was missing in all staff. Even desk staff seemed more interested in talking among themselves than customer service.
The food and beverage was passable, but very out-dated and fairly packed/processed, in keeping with the motel-like nature of the property. The staff I worked with in all areas had the friendly Filipino nature to them, and all were curious to learn and know more, I mark the lack of standards to leadership, and probably corporate direction.

If I were to vacation in the area, there is nothing that would make me consider revisiting the hotel. With the plethora of lake view lodges along the entire road, I would look for something more up to standard.

Room Tip: High floors may have lake view, and will have less traffic noise.

Summit Ridge is just beside Robinsons. So when we felt like eating or just looking around (good finds) we went to Robinsons. Few steps away. We got the suite room which is very spacious. It has two rooms, a restroom, dining, receiving and cooking area. It felt like somewhat home, very homey but with the tagaytay ambience. Very comfortable. You just don't have the Taal View. For me better than Taal Vista because it's just few years old compared to Taal Vista :)

My daughter and I joined my husband on the last day of his seminar at the hotel, so it wasn't really our hotel of choice. We've stayed overnight in Tagaytay before, but never at Summit Ridge because we have very mixed emotions about the construction of high-rise buildings in Tagaytay. The room was clean and big enough. The walls are very thin, though, so I could hear the laughter of the family next door and worse, the shrieking of their toddler late in the night. It would have been nice to lounge on the balcony except that there are no chairs and the building design doesn't really provide much cover against rain so it was just a wet, wet place (which probably explains the lack of chairs). It's a pity though, because the view of the lake is nice. I like the fact that you could just walk to the mall beside the hotel to do some groceries, get a meal (and you have options!) or just have coffee. Sadly, the entrance/exit from the hotel to this area is kept locked. Still, the hotel staff was very nice and courteous. Summit Ridge offers value for money, and probably works for conferences and big groups. But for families like us who go to Tagaytay for its laid back, cool, country-like charm - it's best to stay elsewhere.

Hot off the press. Writing this on the desk of the hotel right before check out. Stayed 2 nights for a whole day meeting while bringing the 3 kids along. Host organised mass check in and check out so ease of procedure cannot be evaluated.

Arrived at around 8PM and bell and security staff were extremely helpful after the 70Km drive in the middle of rush hour. Went straight up to the room where there was a couch and 2 full beds waiting for us. Quaint and basic facilities included a fridge (no minibar but no issues), coffee making facilities (no tea) and an adequate sized toilet and bath. Booked on the 7th floor so view of the lake and volcano was there. Room is surprisingly adequate in size, considering that this is a new property and space is fast becoming a premium. The presence of a balcony made the room even more pleasant, but the glazing on the windows could be improved as we could hear street noise in the room. Furnishings not as high quality and I can see how these can show signs of age really soon, but for now, they are pristine.

Location is a big plus. A full supermarket and a row of restaurants is located in the compound. Across the street are more dining options and while not really classified as a resort, the place had ALMOST a resort feel to it.

Swimming pool is small, but adequate to satisfy kids' fix.

Meeting facilities good, but they could use a faster internet connection (0.5 MbPS at best).

Staff is friendly without being intrusive and (as an eternal credit to the place), security folks are able to do their job without poking sticks everywhere (a rarity in the Philippines).

Downside is the restaurant. Catered by C2, it felt more fast food than hotel food. Decided to skip breakfast today and will proceed to Breakfast at Antonio's because of a mediocre experience yesterday.

Not able to try the gym or the 9th floor lounge, but that is not part of my agenda.

Definitely an option in Tagaytay to serve as "home base" for a weekend (or even for longer stays).

It was a Sunday and the kids requested for a roadtrip to Tagaytay. After eating at Josephine's restaurant I noticed the hotel to which I'm sure is new, so we went on to ask about the rates for a deluxe room, and we are thrilled to know that every Sunday is half the price! So we went on to check-in at this hotel. And may I say that we are enthralled by the majestic interiors of the lobby, its like a five star hotel!

The deluxe room is very clean and new that you can walk barefooted in its floors. The view in our room balcony is the street and Josephine's restaurant because our room was only on the third floor. We are not lucky enough to be granted a higher floor (where-in the views are spectacular of Taal lake and volcano) because of the fact that there are no deluxe rooms in the higher floors, only suites... but overall we still enjoyed it specially the time that the fog started to creep-in around late afternoon...you cannot see the other side of the street from our room!

The pool which the kids are looking forward to every time we check-in in a hotel is only average in size but very clean and relaxing. Given the fact that we are the only guests using the pool at that time, the kids really enjoyed the pool exclusively all to themselves wildly with all the screams and shouting and jumping around! They are also kind enough to turn-on the water fountains and falls. Overall the pool amenities are excellent together with the nice and clean towels they provided.

The breakfast buffet at C2 is sumptuous with the many food options to choose from. Overall the quality and spread of the breakfast menu are excellent. We are not able to try eating dinner at this hotel for we ate our dinner at the nearby Robinson's Supermarket/MiniMall with the many local restaurants to choose from.

Checking out was a breeze and may I say that even though we are not meant to spend an overnight in Tagaytay (because it is a work and schoolday Monday the next day) we have no regrets most specially that we spent it in this very nice and new world class hotel in Tagaytay, the Summit Ridge.
