“Just the place to get away from everything else”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2011

8 suites is somewhere in between a hotel and a bed and breakfast place. The rooms are furnished well. You will instantly feel at home upon entering the room. The food served was good. We checked in at around 2pm and didn't want to go back out for lunch so we ordered food and asked it to be delivered to the room. Price for the food was very reasonable. We had beef salpicao and lengua estofada (P250+ per order). The location of the hotel is far enough from the main road that you won't hear the cars or tricycles passing by. A few posters warned about the rooms having poor sound proofing. We stayed in suite 6 (basement) and we weren't bothered too much about the noise. Maybe because there are only 2 rooms at the basement level. It is very quiet at night. Very very windy so you can hear the wind as it passes through the gaps in the windows and doors. As the other posters also have mentioned, when the wind blows really hard, it shakes the doors. We solved this problem by wedging a paper folded several times between the door and the door frame.

We had a wonderful relaxing time doing nothing. We only went out toeat but we slept and watched DVD's the whole time. The cable reception is still so bad as warned by previous posters so we brought a lot of DVD's with us (although they do have a small DVD library at the reception where you can just borrow).

This will be the perfect place for you if you just want to get away and give yourself some time off. I would say that this place will be perfect for couples and not for families with kids. Kids won't have anything to do here.

I went here with my wife for a quick honeymoon since we only had two days before she goes back to work.

Things that I love about this place:
- The view is just wonderful! We woke up to a wonderful view of Taal lake and the volcano
- It was isolated from the happening place so it's very quiet
- Interior were very nice: love the bed, the entertainment system, the tub, the CR: these are things that you can't see in many hotels lately.

Alarming things:
- They were renovating the place and the workers were staying the night and there was no security guard; considering that this is an isolated place, it doesn't give you any comfort
- I wish they can also improve on training the staff on how to receive the guests. I know that it's a small b&b but when you're running this kind of business, service is of the utmost important. no matter how great the place is, it always boil down to the experience

I learned about the 8 Suites thru this site. In return, I also want to share my experience and it's for you guys to judge. No doubt, it was truly a nice place that's why I uploaded pics at my Facebook right away for friends to see. Things were going on smoothly overnight. The next day, instead of exploring Tagaytay, we decided to have our lunch in their in-house resto. My son super liked their fish fillet, even asked for a 2nd serving! What a big appetite he has! No dessert was available and so he decided to go for a hot chocolate. While he was enjoying his drink, he tasted something different...not a choco chip but... something else. He almost swallowed a FLY!!!!! Fortunately, he was able to spit it out. My 5 year old son, not to mention, had been hospitalized January this year due to Typhoid fever. Seeing a "langaw" at the tip of his tongue was very alarming to me as a physician but most especially as a mom. We have chosen this pricey hotel among the list of bed & breakfast in Tagaytay hoping and expecting for an utmost quality of food and service. But I guess, you really can't have it all. This awful incident had totally ruined our almost wonderful family bonding experience. The Top Management had sent their apologies via email however, the harm has been done.

Rooms are really nice...pure relaxation. Pillows, sheets, bath tub etc are so relaxing you would want to sleep and bum around all day. Except for the dull smell when they opened the door to our room (they should keep the rooms fresh), small AC for Premium rooms (it gets too hot in the afternoon-its nice if its freezing not just cool), and the noise from the lobby(every step and whisper can be heard inside), i would say 8 suites is indeed Worth every cent since the room is what are in for actually given its a suite.

Breakfast was average for 150! (we had 1 free)which you can easily get from any Karinderia.Didnt even bother ordering lunch and dinner there since there werent any good choices and i felt that the staff were the ones cooking instead of a real chef, so we decided to eat at Country Suites. Its basically a place to sleep in and relax all day...you can even check their resto, its empty. no cook, no nothing. menu is empty.

Staff was very accomodating....They even allowed us to check in as early as 8 or 9 am and went out before 2pm. Checkin time is at 2pm, checkout 12nn. Trixia/Trixie was particularly nice that she even drove us to country suites for lunch and got us a car rental thru her own family which was good in terms of security. They also gave us a small tour of the place.

The owner should really do something about the Cable Signal as it really sucks and the transportation problems altough i do think one has to really bring their own car instead of waiting for tricycles for 100-150. do take note that the place is really really off the main road and quite far from rotonda even farther than country suites but you get a peaceful environment and a great view. parking was enough for probably 4-6 cars unless if theyd have it parked down the hill.

Internet was also bad, good thing our room was near the lobby so we still got 2 bars of signal. Dont bother goin on Youtube and any other similar sites for their connection speed is at some kbps only. i tried testing it on speedtest, it wont even load up.facebook is still ok and other type of browsing sites.theyre using smart bro, probably the wireless one. :)

Also, as i have read with the previous reviews, beware of the spa treatments, make sure that the therapists and receptionist are both well informed of the type of massage and how long is the treatment for they might charge you more than what you are expecting. They almost got away charging me for 2 hours but i insisted i requested for an hour only, good thing they were humble enough to just let it go.

Overall, the place is very very nice, it feels like its your own place since not too many people go to this place on a weekday, therefore the staff is focused on you and your needs. This place can be as excellent as country suites or maybe the boutique if theyd have better food choice, and fix their so called amenities. will definitely go back, hopefully things are of excellence by that time.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a brief weekend getaway,

When we arrived we were welcomed by a very friendly member of staff on reception and the feel of a nice ambience surrounding us.

When we were shown to our room, we were amazed by the view that awaited us from the Balcony it was simply stunning.

We had a lovely time and would highly recommend this place for a quiet getaway, be warned though.. its pretty much in the middle of no where so a getaway is exactly what you will get.

The only downside i can think of is that wi-fi access wasnt available in the rooms and that you needed to go to the lobby just to check a couple of emails.

Will definately go back again :)

I drive to Tagaytay almost every week, sometimes a couple of times a week, just for leisure. Often times I would drive with a friend just to have lunch or cocktails and dinner. Once in awhile I would stay for a night or two. I've stayed in most of the better hotels in Tagaytay such as Taal Vista, T-House, Summit Ridge, Country Lodge, Balai Taal (rented a house), The Boutique, etc. Even at Hacienda Isabella which is off Tagaytay already. While driving up to Tagaytay one afternoon, I saw a signboard of 8 Suites and as curiosity got the better of me, decided to check the place out. The hotel is located on one of the narrow side roads going to Tagaytay Highlands. It looks more like a house with an Asian contemporary architecture than a hotel. Upon closer look, you'd see that the building is perched on a ridge. We inquired about the rates, asked about the availability, and checked out most of the 8 suites. The interiors are nice. Very clean and Asian modern. The rooms and bathrooms are large too for Tagaytay standard. The room rates varied depending on the room. We decided to check in and got a large room with a large bathroom and an equally large balcony overlooking the ridge. The room is equipped with a 32" Samsung LCD and an iPod dock. The bathroom had a tub with a rain shower in the center and you can even open the partition separating the tub and the bedroom. A downside I see is that the hotel didn't have a fully operational restaurant. When I was there, I think the restaurant was still operated by Merck's (Richard Merck's?) and it was closed, considering that we were there on a Friday. Seeing the setup, I don't think that we would've eaten there even though it was open. It really didn't look like a place that would serve good food. We decided to have dinner elsewhere and bought another bottle of wine to bring back to the hotel. We borrowed a corkscrew, two wine glasses, a table and two chairs from the hotel and just sat at our private balcony. Since the hotel is deep inside a side road, everything is so peaceful. You don't hear the sound of cars passing and engines roaring at all. That night I could only hear the whispering of the breeze and it was exhilarating. The following day we went to the hotel's restaurant for breakfast. We ordered longganiza and tapa with egg and coffee. The breakfast took about 30 minutes to arrive despite the fact that we were the only ones there. And I requested for a coffee refill but they were already charging P70 for the refill. I needed that second cup of coffee.

In a nutshell, everything was good except for the F&B part which is almost non-existent. The room rates are a bit higher than the bigger hotels in Tagaytay but the rooms are definitely better. I would definitely go back again.

Me and my husband were looking for a place to stay for our very first Christmas trip togather in Tagaytay. And this hotel is one of the coziest place Ive found, also with a good quality which offers a more affordable rate, compare to other hotels/B&Bs/motels in the area.. The rooms were nice and spacious, especially the bathrooms. We chose the Suite 5, and the room is very much private. This is a good one as well, if youre planning for your anniversary or any of your private moments. At night, you would really love the location, esp when you're at the balcony, you could also see the view of the city from there at the same time, like they were "shining stars on the land". Also, if you would try to go out around 6:15 pm onwards, and have time to walk from the hotel 'til outside ridgeview subd., when you're in the mid-center of that way,you would definitely appreciate that certain view. The breakfast is also good. The staff is warm and friendly. But you know, it would also good if the owner/management of the hotel would listen for these few suggestions for more improvement of the property. First, it would be much better if the room is more sound-proofed. Well, it doesnt really mean that you could hear all the unnecessary noice from outside. There are times that you could still hear someone talking from the other side of the hotel. Next is in the bathroom, I hope there is a spray in the toilet for better sanitation The bathing area, right next from the bathtub, I think it would be better if at least there is like a glass window/divider with it. That would seperate it from the tub. So if you will take a bath, the water would not go off to the whole floor of the bathroom. The toiletries should be also ready once the guests arrived to the hotel or get into their room. Lastly, the TV, for more enjoyment, it would be nice if it has a cable connection. Not limited to few local channels. And a good reception. That's all for comments. But on the other hand, still, I love the place and I would love to go back...
