“Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

A fairly new hotel that has a nice well kept lobby and public areas. The central courtyard and garden are a great place to take a mid day rest from touring . The room was of adequate size and very clean. The view, although short (maybe 2M), was to a well kept planted area. It did not allow for much natural light into the room but the lights provided were sufficient.
The shower was large and there was lots of hot water. There is minimal shelf space for toiletries.
The bed was make military style, very tight. The one thing that was not to standard was the depression in the mattress, not a 'honeymoon' depression, but two separate divots that were deep enough to make it a chore to scale the sides.
The staff was very friendly and went about thier buisness unnoticed. The restaurant staff was particularly worthy of mention. They took extremely good care of us at every meeting. Kudos to them.
I would definately stay here on some future trip.

The rooms around the swimming pool are an oasis of comfort and quiet when one is all 'templed out' after a day around the architectural wonders of Bagan. The place is spotlessly clean. The staff are very helpful in providing advice and arranging bookings for bicycles or taxis and airline bookings or re-confirmations.

I stayed here in December 2008 with My wife & I was offered a free upgrade to a deluxe. The 2 nights I was there was great & enjoyed the privacy of a swimming pool closed from the public. A good , secure place for families with small children. A very early breakfast was prepared with many goodies. Staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms in the father end are ok

We were on the first floor. The windows looked out on a wall. When we tried to get something to eat there was no room service and the restaurant was closed. We had to walk down the road to an outdoor cafe in the heat. The staff were not the most accommodating. It was clean though and the a/c worked.

Room Tip: stay on the 2nd floor and bring food.

Was quite a nice, quiet and clean hotel. Manager a bit charmless but the staff was very welcoming and helpful. My real complaint would be the location - just a bit too far away from the sights, etc. I'd recommend staying in old bagan or in between old bagan and nyaung oo.

Enjoyed staying at the Arthawaka Hotel for two nights in April 2013.

Staff are super friendly and even though many do not speak English terribly well, they are unbelievably helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

I got the impression the place is still bedding in. Some of the staff are a bit inexperienced (which I suppose is no surprise at all given how rapidly Myanmar is opening up for tourism) and the chap who I assume was the manager always was on hand to supervise and step in if necessary.

Am particularly grateful for their flexibility in letting me check in early on day one and check out late on the final day. One does get very dirty cycling around, so being able to have a shower before heading for the airport was very, very helpful.

Rooms are nice and certainly good value for money. One or two odd things like no shower curtain and rather over pretentious bathroom fittings, but overall excellent.

I hired a bike each day. Nice, new bikes. Bit girly ladies bikes with no gears and basket on the front, but seems that is the same as you get everywhere, so I think I got a good deal.

Hotel restaurant is OK, but nothing special. Much, much better option is to walk a few hundred metres towards town and on the left is a little open-air restaurant offering Burmese and Chinese food. Fabulous place! For less than 5,000K got wonderful chicken curry (dishes just kept coming!), drinks, introduction to the chef and a front row seat for the mobile disco making it's way up and down Kayay Street!

Give it a year or two to get things all working a bit more smoothly and will be 5/5 then.

This hotel was perfect for us while we toured around Bagan. Nice staff, decent breakfast, clean rooms, quick internet, and a salt water pool. It was within walking distance to new Bagan restaurants. Biking from here to the temples in Old Bagan was within a day's work too. Great value for money.
