“Charming Hotel in Bagan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised after arriving to the Thazin Garden Hotel. Our room was spacious and spotless. We had a small terrace in front of the room with a table and two comfortable chairs. The hotel is situated in the gardens. The restaurant has tables along the pool and looks spectacular at night with all of the tropical flowers and candles lit by the entryway.
Breakfast is served above the reception area and you have an option to eat in or outside. WiFi works only in the reception area.

We stayed her e for 3 nights and found it a very relaxing place to be on our busy trip to Burma. Beautiful gardens with hotel's own stupor. Perfect bouganvillia surrounded swimmig pool. The rooms are very comfortable and we ate at the hotel each night, which was OK. Interesting area surrounding the hotel to walk in. Diinner by moonlight next to the temple was perfect.

The grounds of this hotel are the main draw. There are stupors inside the hotel boundaries and there is a clean swimming pool surrounded by bourgainvillea with a restaurant to the side. A separate building hosts the spa where massages and other treatments are available. Breakfast is served upstairs in the main building but most of the rooms are in separate wooden 'chalet sets' set around well-kept gardens. The rooms have all mod-cons (tea-making facilities etc). The only fly-in-the-ointment was the pricing of food and services. The laundry was more expensive than a comparable service in the UK. Food was generally double the price of everywhere else that we stayed in Myanmar. There are two good restaurants a minute's walk out of the front gate though but we didn't see a local laundry.

Large bungalow style rooms, beautifully maintained grounds with attractive faux pagoda, pool with trellised bouganville and open air bar, and friendly if occasionally English-challenged staff make this a solid choice when in Bagan for the temple crawl. Very relaxing two day stay at the end of a ten-day bike trip.

Best hotel we were in in Burma. Quiet & very clean with good sized rooms. Staff very friendly, beautiful setting around swimming pool, good breakfast. Dinner/restaurant overpriced/average - there are 2 restaurants just a couple of minutes walk away - Shwe Lan Thit and Mi San which are both very good - much better food for around half the price.

Do not accept room 101! It is next to the staff area and motorbike parking is on the other side of the wall where the beds are. You are guaranteed not to get any sleep as staff come and go at all hours.

I moved to room 403 which is located in a much quieter area. Both rooms were the same in decor and size and had garden views.

The staff is very accommodating and helpful and there is a nice spa. The pool is lovely. You
can have your meals in the shady area by the pool.

Room 310 is a suite that overlooks a few ancient temples. It has sliding doors to room 305 and noise might be a problem. Rooms in the 600 series are in a 2-storey building and those on the upper level overlook a temple on the hotel property. These rooms are closest to the lovely pool.

Room Tip: It would be wonderful to have a view of temples, but there are not that many rooms that offer this...

Eating with a view on the temples inside the garden. Food was nice, service was myanmar style pleasant. Which means iptheir english can be poor, but very friendly!
