“Neglected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

It is sad to see that this is neglected & is not being restored. There was no security although his chair was there. The place needs to be looked after.

“Very Small Temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

This temple is small compared to the others. I couldn't get in because it was locked but managed to take a few pix from the outside.

It is said that a monk named U Pali commissioned this ordination hall in the early thirteenth century. It follows the usual construction plan for wooden structures although it is made of brick.

“fresco of sima”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Upali Thein is located just the opposite side of Htilominlo Pahto. You can see interesting fresco inside. It describes sima, which is a place where novice were judged to become monk or not. We overheard this from a tour guide we just came across here! You have to pay for photography inside normally. Actually we were not charged by a guy who was taking care inside and also selling souvenir. But when some more tourists came in, he started to charge to them. Don't know his criteria.
