“Just amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

It was among the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Go there before everyone else finds out! In November 2013 there were some tourists but it was not crowded. In some years I think there will be so many tourists.

“Our favorite in all Burma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

This is a not to be missed attraction..the people, landscape, and views here are some of the best we've encountered in the world.

Be sure to catch the sunset on the temples from a hIgh vIewpoInt.

We had one of the most educated, knowledgeable, and excellent guides in Bagan. He made our visit and experience twice as memorable and special. Feel free to contact me for his details if interested.

“Run or take a bike through the temples”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

Such a beautiful site. Ran the first Bagan Temple Marathon (the 1/2 marathon) - it was incredible. I did see people biking through the temples as well. Go to the big one at Sunset - you won't be dissapointed and I saw people climbing some of the temples in the morning for sunrise. My biggest regret is not booking the baloon ride in advance!!

“A must! list of some prices (Nov 13)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

Bike Rental 1500 per day(can be reduced for a group for a few days)
Electric bike rental 8000per day 4000 1/2 day(again possible to get small discount for group)
A taxi to old Bagan from Nuang Ay is about 3500-4000 each way which is good for the sunset boat trip. They charge 15,000 for the taxit to wait for you and take you back. We found a taxi coming back easily and saved the 7,000.
For a sunset boat cruise go direct to the pier in old Bagan and negotiate, dont pay per person pay per boat 15,000-20,000, easily fits 10 people so find a group and cut the cost.

For sunset the big temples get super busy, Phya Tha temple is a good one, not as busy as the big ones.

Best advice is to stop and check out all the little ones and climb the internal stairs to the rooftop for some spectacular views.

At the little road side restaurants along the way to Old Bagan you can get a very generous Myanmar style meal for 1,500.

If you can avoid paying the $10 Bagan entry fee when you arrive do so. Good chance of not getting your ticket checked while at the temples and if they check they will just make you buy one. Also ask people in Mandala, Inle, Yangon that have been already if you can have their ticket(they are valid for 5 days). The money goes straight to the government so no need to feel bad about not paying.
Good idea to donate a few hundred Kyats directly to the temples instead

“Magnificent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

Imagine this scene: ancient temples scattered throughout an endless field of golden grass. Horses carriages trot along a dusty road. This sounds like something from another century, but it's real. These are the temples of Bagan!

Here's a tip: Spend the first day on a rented bicycle exploring the temples in the area. Locate a high temple with a good view. The next day, wake up early to make it to that spot to in time to watch a magnificent sun rise.
