“Best of the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

The hotel is fairly good, all things considered--especially how far away it is. It is an 8 to 9 hour drive from the closest airport to the hotel. The rooms are inside Toraja style houses, one room on top and a second below. The soundproofing is terrible, so hope that no one else is housed near you. There is no air conditioning, but the nights are cool. There are no screens on the windows, but there don't seem to be a lot of insects. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are well designed and big. Almost everyone at the restaurant has the breakfast and dinner buffet as part of a package. The food is plentiful and diverse (Italian night, Indonesian night, French night, etc.), and there is always something that is not bad; the fruit and desserts are surprisingly good. Local artists of the highest quality sell interesting things in the lobby in the evening and the gift shop also has excellent quality souvenirs and local artwork. The people working at the hotel were consistently helpful and kind and tried hard to please.

The hotel is a bit old, rooms are clean but old as well. Staff is really nice, always smiling, friendly and welcoming. The pool is really nice and i saw them cleaning it a couple of times.
I read complains for the restaurant but actually it is good. The only huge problems are the birds at breakfast time because they enter in the breakfast room and eat cakes and other food even if they are covered! The seats outside near the pool are often dirty with bird poo :(
Anyway it is one of the few 4 stars hotel in the area, maybe it only needs some improvements

This is the only four stars hotel in this area, but the hotel condition will be rated to three stars, the only good thing is swimming pool, room condition and bedding is below average, breakfast not much choice, close to small village and a bit noisy during early morning, staff is good but less experience, surrounding is nice

The pool did not look clean upon arrival and quite by accident I found out why because I had to stay in the room because I was not feeling well. To make a long story short in the afternoon and in the morning when the tourists are out of the hotel truck loads of local children are driven to the hotel and these children jump in the pool fully clothed (no showers available). Morning and afternoon there must have been over 60 children each time.

We stayed 2 nights at Toraja Heritage Hotel. The hotel is old and not well maintained. We had a room in the Cottages, there are not so bad but please don't take rooms no 105 to 114, there are very noisy in front of the access road and traffic all night and early morning. Food at the hotel restaurant is very bad! Service is poor mainly due to the lack of staff and breakfast as well as dinner have been a poor experience (no quality, no quantity).

We tried the spa (massage). Practionners are not bad but the place is just not a spa. No welcome, no explanations or questions, 1 hour massage in a dirty and noisy environment. No pleasure.

Room Tip: Cottages are not so bad, but rooms no 105 to 114 are very noisy.

Great hotel replicating a torajan village. For more authentic experience make sure you get a bungalow. If you need to make phone calls they charge, not cheap. They have some traditional dances by staff, bit cheesy but nice.

This hotel having great view from lobby even from my window only can saw other rooms. We used 2 rooms with connecting door, i was lucky can got that rooms, so 4 of us can met and talked easier. Unfortunately the days we stayed, the phone rooms were offline because of the thunders (their reason), so for asked more toilet tissues, we must call the staff to their cellphone. The worst when we got dinner in the restaurant, we waited 1 hour for meals 4 person, and we saw there were some expatriates got meals before us, and we saw they arrived after us. Its so ridiculous, how come hotel star did that to Indonesian people. Well.... we didnt care and we didnt complain in that time because we will not stay in that hotel again. I think this hotel just respect with non Indonesian. Next time we go to Tana Toraja, will find another hotels, many around there

Room Tip: rooms near lobby much better
