“Geographically interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

It's worth the visit if you have any interest in Geographic data...
The monument is actually off the equator by about 120 meters, and in 2005 a smaller equator milestone is built south of the main monuments...
Worth the sight, recommende to come at about 12;00 noon, to have some experiments with shadows disappearing because of the sun position (look at photos). Best is March 21-22 an September 21-22, when the sun is directly above.
Recommend to take the boat from downtown, it's more interesting and faster.

“A must visit when in Pontianak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

A unique site. A point spot on on the Equator. A must visit to all visitors to Ponti. Only about 30 minutes from the town if the traffic is not too bad .Best to visit in the morning.

besides of it is a imaginary line dividing the earth into northern and southern part. not much to see aside of the basic information about how and who initialized this spot and monument.

“its there”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

it was just okay. there seemed to be like 10 other similar / replica monuments all over town. just a little background given about the monument and a couple of eggs if you want to try to stand them. if you are there at 12 noon sharp...there is no shadow ( we were there at 10 am).
oh yes...do not go anywhere before 9am WIB ( indon time) .. its all closed.

This is a must visit, it's a little way out of town so can be stopped in on on a trip out to the rural areas
