“Overpriced but with decent service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2009

Stayed at Femina for a couple of nights in 07/09 with my wife . The hotel itself is quite shabby and its obvious that the management are in the middle of some serious cost cutting. The lobby is fairly impressive but the first disconcerting sign was the fact that the aircon in the lobby was switched off while the temperature outside was pushing 40+ degrees. Rooms are spacious and clean enough but look like they haven`t been refurbished in the last few decades. The airconditioning was powerful but the bed was on the firm side. The bathroom is huge and has round the clock running hot water but no bath. The room also has a balcony, although ours had a clear, uninterrupted view of the stables to the back of the hotel.

The hotel does have a swimming pool but we did not visit it. The hotel has two restaurants- the complimentary breakfast is mostly Indian but they did have some corn flakes, juices and toast.

On a positive note, the service at the hotel was really good- the staff were courteous and helpful, our room was cleaned daily and all our requests were promptly met. For this sole reason, plus the fact that many of the other options available online are twice as expensive, I may still consider staying at Femina when I visit Trichy next (Having said that, we passed many hotels that looked modern and impressive (at least from the outside) and I am sure some of them are far cheaper than Femina. If you are the more adventerous type, you may even want to consider looking for a hotel once you get to Trichy)

We stayed at this hotel for 2 days. The AC rooms are adequate for travellers from the US. The rooms are clean enough (could be better maintained). These were recently refurbished rooms. There is better food outside the hotel. The hotel does arrange good transportation.

The UAE money exchange close by in Jennys Plaza offers good rates and prompt service. You might be able to bargain for better rates for exchange of large travellers checks. They are open half days on Sunday, which is a big plus.

Rooms:
Take a look at a few rooms. Rooms are basic, but some smell badly. There were renovations in the hotel while I stayed there

Location:
great (3mins walk to bus terminal)

Restaurant/Staff:
Would not recommend food from restaurant, below average. Staff ok. Got a wakeup call at 7AM - and didnt order one. Thats not how you want to start a day, do you?
The receptionist agreed to return my laundry next day - of course it was not there and they tried to convince me to stay another night - or get my old laundry back. Great business idea, dont you think?

Recently I stayed at this hotel with my friend.
Though the cleanliness is not upto the mark, it is a good hotel to stay for this price range. The food was really good and we enjoyed the stay

This hotel has a great lobby, but the rooms are shabby and not as clean as they should be. The place smelled of pesticide but even so there were tiny roaches in our bathroom. If it hadn't been so late in the evening when we arrived I would have looked elsewhere. Breakfast was good but the service for dinner was so slow I almost wept. There must be better places in Trichy!

My wife, two year old son and I stayed in this hotel most of June 2008. Mr. Amarnath the manager and Mr. Leo Babu were very kind and helpful. I did try to bargain down the price for such a lengthy stay but was unable to do so. However, Mr.Amarnath did allow us to leave our luggage for free when we left and tried to hold our room for us (#619) for our return each time we did go for an outing to visit family, etc. The staff was always responsive to our requests, room service was good, without the usual mixup of orders that occurs in India, the breakfast buffet is generous but for some reason they just can't get it quite right for coffee and tea each day. It's there but every day it was a struggle for the staff and sometimes people were mad at them about it.

This hotel hosts many weddings, so you will hear explosions at night of celebrations from that but no big deal. The mall attached to the hotel is fantastic for India. You can buy so many imported items there. My son really enjoyed drinking boxes of cold "appy" apple juice. The hotel has internet but you can walk out the front and cut right about one block and go across the street and find a 24hr place that costs pennies. Note: There is a "Vasan" medical shop on the corner. That is a wonderful place to buy your tablets super cheap and they are top quality. We also were able to buy our son's x-large pampers there. They scrounged the city for us and located them. The last thing I can add is that our son became briefly ill once and the hotel doctor was summoned. He came at once and even came back on his own to check on him without pay. Can't ask for better service than that. When we return to Trichy town we will stay with Femina again.
