“2 day stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Had to travel Trichy for my friends marriage,as we are were group of 5 we booked a 3bedroom and 2 bedroom.
Having stayed in manyplaces in Trichy and paid same rate myexpectation were in right place. The hotel is located near central bus stand ,and rooms were decent size thats all the positive i can say.
hotel is located next to Tasmac( Govt bar), nothing more to add to it. A/C in room were maybe 15 yr old and it was making good amount of noise.believe me there is no hot water available, need to call reception for a bucket of water.
Customer service was not great, the room boys were veryslow and some times felt they were cold.Call reception and expect delayed service.
In all if you are with family , you have better choice. If its business trip or last minute plan go along as its near to bus stand and railway station.

booked a room in advance for one of my customer in this hotel. when my customer came to check in, they denied any booking in that name. When i spoke to the manager later in the day, he simply says it was because of new inexperienced people sitting in the lobby.

Stayed at a family room which was pretty hazardous for the kids with low roof with a ceiling fan and a window with no safety grills.
Some of the towels we got were mildly wet.
The bath room had a heater which was not functioning.
The family room was right on the roof top with not lift.
Lift was functioning upto fifth floor but was too old and was slow with the capacity of only 4 people at a time.

Room Tip: If you have small kids avoid family room

In the corridors, everywhere lounging around on the floor workers, but they did nothing!
The rooms were basic and not clean.
The beds were very bad. It smelled of garbage in the room.
If you have a request that is not responding It just happens nothing.
I wanted to take a shower and asked the front desk, if they had hot water. Answer: Yes of course: there was only ice-cold water! Again and again we asked for hot water, the manager promised that there would be immediatly hot water, but nothing happened. That was at lunchtime, evening and the next morning the same:no hot water. There was something promised and not fulfilled.
Big problem also nobody don’t speaks English, only the manager!
When we wanted to pay next morning, we said we would not pay the full amount, because we could not take a shower. Mr.Manager behaved like a wild man! We felt like in a movie.
He yelled loudly around: “You are a liar!” Then he was an employee of the exterior doors close, so our driver could not drive out the car. We felt like being in prison. The manager roared on and on.
We threatened to call the police, which did not impress him. In India the police does not come…
In the end, we could go!
Travelers don’t visit this hotel. Danger threatens!

When we started out for a temple tour from Trichy, it did start with a sour note when we are put up at this hotel. When I booked for 2 double A/C rooms through phone, I was told that they are available and i was asked to mail them for confirmation. Until the day we started out, there was not any confirmation and when I called again, the receptionists assured me that there are rooms and we can simply walk-in next day. Too bad I trusted! When we arrived early morning around 6.30 AM, 2 unprofessionalists greeted us in the reception. We were told that there is no sign of our booking and only triple A/C rooms are available. Meekly we agreed since it was too much to run around at that time as we were traveling with 2 elders.

After paying an atrocious 5k advance, we headed to the rooms and it is just so disappointing. There were 2 fans in one room but another had 1 with all the wires stripped out. The showers did not work so was TV. Toilets did not have latches working. Worse is in a triple AC room there is no AC effect at all. Wonder why do they even call it a triple AC.

Breakfast comes as part of the package but it is yet another nightmare. I would not even want to start my day with such breakfast. Idlies were so hard and semiya dish should be renamed to garlic dish. Side dishes were bit stale and that was disappointing for a morning breakfast. Coffee is horrible again - all watery and bitter.

Especially when you travel with family, the location of the hotel is horrible. It is next to a open-air bar and after 6 PM dont even think of walking in that lane.

I would rather go to Grand Gardenia booking through expedia or so.

Hotel Annamalai is located at a stone throw away from the Railway station and the Central Bus stand, thus making it easy for travellers. The Hotel rooms are decently spacious and clean. The bathrooms are well kept are are equipped with geysers.

The Breakfast is complimentary and includes two or three south indian dishes (like idli, pongal, bonda etc). It is topped off with a aromatic south indian filter coffee.

For travellers who want to visit Pudukottai or some other places in the vicinity, this hotel is a good choice as it is located close to the Central Bus Stand. Taxis (typically a Tata Indica vehicle) are also available at the taxi stand close to the Hotel.

Thus for a short and affordable stay, Hotel Annamalai is your best bet.

The Fan makes the room cool compared to the A/C

The Window A/c on the delux room is not good in this hotel for all the rooms ... Room Service is terribly Bad and they have a restaurant attached .. never share a deal there ...
