“Almost Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

First off, would give credit to the Marriott group for having made internet access complimentary for all Marriott members (which effectively is free since becoming a member is in fact easy and free). I think internet access ought to come as a basic amenity for all hotels. My stay was almost perfect, save for the outrageous noise the following morning beginning about 7am. Objectively though, it's hardly the hotel's fault since it was out of their control. Apart from that, this is by far the best hotel have experienced in Nanning. Service was excellent and gym was 24 hours. The sole opportunity area would be to improve quality of the food from the room service.

Stayed here five days for a business trip. Staff is very helpful. Restaurants are fine and breakfast is excellent! The rooms are comfortable and very quiet. (the room next door had TV on loud. I could hear it in the hall but not in my room). Beds are great. Large bathrooms with shower and tub. Lots of interesting restaurants close by. It lives up to its 5 star billing. It has a good fitness facility and pool (if only I'd had time to use them).
As in most Chinese hotels, it's annoying to have smoking in the restaurants but the non-smoking area is well removed from smoking at breakfast.

Room Tip: Make sure that you request a non-smoking room

I have stayed this hotel a few times for a business trip.
Totally, I am very satisfied this hotel and I will choose this hotel again.

Room;
Normal 5star grade room, clean and comfortable. However nothing special and I felt interior decorations are pretty old-fashioned.
Free wi-fi available for marriott members, so smooth to access.

Bathroom;
bathtub and shower booth are separated.
water pressure is well.

Reception;
Checkin/out is quite smooth.
Receptionist and other staffs are well trained, always with smile.
They speak fluent english. Some guys even speak Cantonese and Vietnamese.

Location;
The hotel is located in city center, enough convinient.
There is a Wal-mart, a local department store, and KFC near the hotel.
KFC is running 24hr.

The location of this hotel is good enough for a business trip, with supermarket, restaurants, entertainment.
provides with wonder big enough rooms and king size bed, areas divided clear, with a useful working desk. unfortunatelly and desk with glass surface so not suitable for most mouse, yet the hotel provides with a mouse pad. Meanwhile, you can connect your laptop to the LED screen, so that you can enjoy your home cinema.
The breakfast is quite rich, with fresh juice, this is unsusal for most hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room if available, there might be noise from the bar.

Stayed here two nights. Rooms were well appointed and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was very good with both western and eastern choices. Everything was clean and up to standards. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I stayed in Marriot Nanning for only one night for business. It’s probably the worst Marriot ever. I don’t know exactly the history of the building nor the hotel, but I can tell that it’s quite old from the smell. I tried blow away the smell with air-con, but all the window were sealed. I had to switch the air-con to the highest wind speed and tried to sleep with the terrible noise. The weather were muggy, but it couldn’t be the reason the beds and quilts are dampened. Every one knows how uncomfortable sleeping like this. I had a buffet lunch at the Café. The food was tasteful, but there were so few food choices as if the café got robbed right before we arrived. Almost everyone in the cafe was complaining about it. The only thing satisfying was the signature noodle. You could order different types of noodles or vegetables and the cook will make it for you. That was nice. When we were taking the check, I was completely shocked by the number on it. It only cost less than 13 USD each. You just get what you pay for. At the moment I considered the hotel as a disaster, two things surprised me. One is the hotel’s room service. The noodles with beef were really yummy and were a life saver for those who drank a lot. The other is what they used in the bathroom. The cosmetics were of the brand of Aromatherapy. That was good to use. And despite of the facilities, the staffs here were kind and very helpful. Marriot is a prestige brand in the hotel industry. And this hotel is probably the best hotel, at least the hotel brand here. But in a city like Nanning which is accelerating its way into the urbanization and modernization, a customer wants just more than average, and a hotel of Marriot like this definitely needs more improvement.
