“Excellent value for a stay in Moshi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

I stayed with Sandra for 4 nights. Wonderful homely place to stay in Moshi. Sandras husband has Safari and trekking business and is is highly appreciated by other quests during my stay. You need to take once a barbecue dinner with Sandra and Frank. Nice atmosphere and lovely place.

The showers are tidy, but basic. Rooms are big enough and the beds are good. If you are looking for a nice budget stay in Moshi and looking to hike around or climb Kilimanjaro this is your right choice to stay. Swimming pool is in a hotel 1 km away, if needed.

The only thing that is little bit critical is that the guard dogs are sensitive in the night and can wake you up for few minutes, but therewith place is safe and you have no concerns of security.

I will surely come back.

Room Tip: 2 couples stays nicely in the quest house where is one common bath room.

Stayed two nights with lovely Sandra and her family at the TembuTamu. They know the area very well. They are very kind and they fix everyting you need.
I had a single room inside their house. Good space, good bathroom and very nice food.
It was very nice to sit outside on the terrace in the evenings, and I think you might actually see the Kili on clear days from that terrace.
The hotel are in a nice neighborhood.
Must be a great place to stay if you are climbing the Kili.

We've stayed before and after our Kili climb; Sandra, Frank and their son Tony were extremely friendly. We've arranged our climb through them as well; they have checked all our equipment and filled the gaps with great tips. During our stay we had delicious food thanks to Sandra and we were even introduced to their friends in a birthday party!
After the climb we've had a safari tour all together and had a great experience.
It is located little out of the town in a quiet corner; very comfortable and special stay. You absolutely feel like you're visiting a friend of yours. Highly recommended!

Climbed Kili with Tembotamu (6 days, Machame, reached summit!). Sandra and the family were very accommodating. Included in the price to climb is a night before departure and night after your return at their beautiful home. They also provide delicious home cooked meals when you stay with them. They were also very helpful with equipment rental.

Would highly recommend.

I stayed at Tembotamu for the weekend on two separate trips to Moshi during a six month stay in Tanzania earlier this year.

The owners, Sandra and Frank have guestrooms in their house as well as a guesthouse next door. I stayed in both on different occasions and they were very comfortable, clean and had a homely feel.

They are situated in a quiet spot on the outskirts of Moshi. It took us around 20 minutes to walk into town but Sandra and Frank also offered lifts when they travelled into town and gave us a number for a reliable taxi to travel around Moshi at night.

Breakfast is included in the price, we had french toast, cereal, fruit and great coffee. Overall, I highly recommend this place to stay if you want to relax and unwind.

I also booked a 4 day safari through Sandra who was able to match us with another small group to lower the price and was given a very reasonable deal.

Sandra, Frank, and their son Tony offer this tranquil stay while you're hanging out for a climb of the mountain or having a safari adventure. The rooms are very comfortable and the atmosphere is very warm and relaxing. They are such great hosts. It was a treat to stay with them and have them plan my climb and safari adventure. Sandra was great at facilitating bringing together the guests who were also staying at her home when I was and we formed a little community for a bit and that was just an added bonus. Thanks!

We had a wonderful holiday with the tour organised by Tembo Tamu. They organised our climb to Kilimanjaro (spanning over a week) and then arranged for tours of the Masai Boma and some gaming tours at well. Our accommodation was comfortable. Sandra and Frank were approachable (Sandra even arranged for a local tanzanite dealer to come home on our last night) and make us feel at home. I would definitely recommend TemboTamu.
