“Best Kept Secret - Hartenbos/Mosselbay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014 via mobile

This was the most pleasant surprise I got in a long time. I know the area well but did not know this jewel existed. Immaculately furnished, super clean, friendly staff... Everything one can wish for and expect of a real 5star rated entity. The attention to detail was amazing and contributed to a very pleasant stay. Thank YoU! I will be back!

From the entrance to the manicured lawns on the beachfront, there is only one word to describe this 5 star Guest House - IMMACULATE! The house is modern, elegant and shows great taste. As for the breakfasts - A perfect to start the day. This guest house is a must stopover enroute to Cape Town. Thanks Lindi and the staff for making us feel at home.

Room Tip: no 4 has a private balcony with a great view.

The African Oceans Villa was wonderful. As a couple we couldn't have asked for more. The attention to detail in the suite was very thoughtful and the views were spectacular. Breakfast was very well prepared with lots of choice and the quality was exceptional. Would definitely recommend this Villa and just wish we had been staying longer than the one night. Couldn't recommend it more highly if you want somewhere in Mossel Bay.

This adorable guest house was a little jewel in a quiet location right on the beach. We had a very big comfortable clean room with all the amenities such as a small kitchen to make it self catering should you choose to do your own cooking. The bathroom has a wonderful shower that pumps out plenty of steaming hot water. The staff were very friendly, pleasant and efficient, the breakfast was always delicious with an extra surprise starter which we always looked forward to and were never disappointed as to how great they were.

We would definitely stay at this place again and highly recommend it and the only regret was we were not there long enough. All round it was just a great experience

We were a group of 10 on a road trip up the Garden route, with 3 kids.
We loved the villa with it's easy access to the beach for the kids.
Clean, beautiful rooms with plenty of space for all 10 of us. The breakfast was lovely and staff very helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

We drove the garden route for part of our honeymoon, and looking on the map it seemed to make sense that we stop here after a long drive from gansbaii. Oh how much we wish we had kept going to the oh so spectacular town of Knysna. Look, the hotel was clean, the service was really great, but the hotel itself, the creepily quiet suburban neighborhood it is in, and the drab and people-less town of mossel Bay is really best to avoid. It is on the beach, which is really the only redeeming quality outside of the good breakfast. The hotel itself is kind of weird, like they took over two houses, threw a few bucks into cheap renovations, and then called themselves a hotel. The staff is really nice, but we wanted to leave as early as possible as the neighborhood was just weird and we got this strange vibe.

If you want a quaint seaside town with great little hotels and restaurants, go to Knysna.
If you're into staying in a newly refurbished suburban house with about as much charm as a McMansion, then you've come to the right place. Also, this place was really annoying with the security, like 3 different keys for this door or that gate... Just a buzz kill. Still, the staff made our stay tolerable but I'd advise against this place and this weird town.

Dear @iamthecoley,

It seems a bit unfair that this review and rating is mostly of your impressions of the town and neighborhood and not so much of African Oceans.

Firstly I would like to highlight that WE ARE NOT A HOTEL as you mentioned 4 times in your review. We are a GUESTHOUSE and proud of the fact that we remain a home away from home and not by any means a hotel.

Thank you so much for making it very clear that you found our premises clean, the staff great, the breakfast good and that you liked the beach.

It is a pity that you found Mossel Bay less to your liking. Most of our guests love the town and its people that have so much to offer all visitors.

Also our neighborhood is safe and quiet – much to the liking of most guests who wants to escape the buzz of city life.

We will take your comments into consideration and do our best to improve.

Many blessings to you and safe travels.

Kind regards,
Lindi

We spent 3 nights here and decided to go for the best room in the house - and the presidential suite was just unbelievable. 26 metres from the door to the edge of the balcony! Sweeping views, top rate fixtures & fittings, lovely breakfasts, great walks along the beach, friendly attentive service. A delightful oasis of tranquility where we felt totally relaxed and refreshed.

Room Tip: Go for the presidential suite - you will NOT be disappointed!
