“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

This is a splendid location on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Waterbuck graze on the lawns by the sweeping drive to the front entrance. Monkeys scurry among the trees. On the lake you see boats whizzing off for hippo watching tours.
We had a lovely lunch here on the lawn. The vegetarian curry was excellent.

Lake Naivasha Country Club is an very good hotel with super grounds, fantastic large trees, with a perfect lakeside position. It has a real atmosphere and was ideal for our group before 8 nights in the Mara. The hotel arranged a super boat trip on the amazing lake, with super bird, hippo, and plains game viewing opportunities. Rooms are of a good size and well equipped. The restaurant
has a real charm about it and all bar the rather blunt barman were excellent and friendly staff. Food is buffet style and varied, with a good choice. We have stayed several times and always enjoy our visits.

Room Tip: Some are modern, others are more traditional. New rooms further from the main hotel and Hippos wan...

The Lake Naivasha Country Club has a welcoming atmosphere - all the staff were friendly and ensured that the time spent there was enjoyable. The food was good and the accommodation was maintained in a clean and tidy manner. It was charming to see wild animals grazing in the grounds, water buck and hippos (night time only) took ownership of the grounds. The nearby lake abounded with animals and birds and the one hour boat ride with an informative guide was a highlight of the visit. We also visited Mount Longonot - an extinct volcano with an impressive caldera at the summit. The small Hell's Gate National park is nearby and again a good day out to see the wildlife in their natural environment. We arranged to have a barbecue at the cottage on the last night and this was really well prepared - excellent food and charming chef and manager who waited on us. I'll return to this resort. The only negative was the bathroom water quality and the faint but audible disco noise from the adjacent resort. When we checked out we had a look at some of the other rooms and would choose one further away from the disc next time.

Room Tip: Choose an executive or luxury cottage and ask to be placed away from the nearby resort. All the room...

I wanted to spend a couple of days acclimating before getting involved in all the projects we had scheduled for our Kenya trip. LNCC fit the bill. I liked the relaxed, more historic feel of the property. The staff was excellent, accommodating and very welcoming. The grounds are full of monkeys and it was fun watching the children of guests chasing them and vice versa. (Yes, the monkeys chase back, all in fun) It seemed like a good place for families. Crystal Island is five minutes away by boat and well worth the expense (remember to bring money for the entrance fee) The nice thing about Crystal Island is that you can walk! You are not stuck in a game drive car. Skip the guide and just wander around. If you can, ask to see a couple of rooms as some are a bit tight and dated. I especially have to extend a thanks to the manager, Avin George. Our bags did not arrive in Nairobi with us (the airport had just burn down and things were a bit confused). Mr George made calls and emailed the airlines on our behalf. He jumped on it. Our bags were in Nairobi when we return from our relaxing weekend at LNCC. Many thanks.

Room Tip: Ask to see a couple of rooms. Some are more "historic" than others.

Although Lake Naivasha Country Club is quite old, the club gives you a secluded feeling at the shores of Lake Naivasha for an interesting price. The personnel of the club was very nice and helpful and even upgraded us without us asking to. Food is not excellent though and especially the dinner area needs improvements.

Room Tip: If you can, book the presidential suite

We stayed here for a night en route to Masai Mara. Beautiful and well kept surroundings however the room we stayed in was disappointing - the wash basin was choked we complained ,the housekeeping attendant came with a plastic bag to clear the blockage !!! And so we had to put up with a choked basin fortunately we were leaving the next morning. The housekeeping needs to pull up their socks - they forget to put room supplies - one has to make a list of what one needs before calling them lest we have to phone again to ask - shampoo, coffee sachets, sugar , tea bags even towels !! The room desperately needs refurbishing and renovation - everything seemed to be be in a state of disrepair.

Our trip to Kenya cost more than a trip to Spain and Portugal last year! You don't get your money's worth.

Lake Naivasha is beautiful with a great variety of water birds & hippos.
Stayed at the Naivasha Country Club which is on the lake. It has well maintained lawns and lovely trees
Well appointed rooms – but the bathrooms need some maintenance. The shower did not have pressure and the bund leaked – making the whole bathroom wet. Hot water was at a premium – the shower had to be running at least for 7-10 minutes before the hot water came. What a waste of water.
Fresh towels were provided every day. Toiletries not very good quality.
The room was a bit small – not enough space to keep luggage but the cupboard was adequate to hang clothes & keep shoes.
The windows cannot be kept open because of mosquitoes and since there is no screen on them the room gets very claustrophobic. The bathroom does not have an exhaust and tends to stink up as the windows do not open.

Staff was helpful but not smiling or friendly. Food quality was alright but not enough – the dishes were not refilled and you just had to go without the items that finished.

Boat ride around the lake is recommended if you are interested in birds. The Crescent Island safari on foot is completely avoidable. The animals are the same as in the reserve and nothing special about the landscape.

Room Tip: Take a windcheater / jacket & head scarf / warm cap its very chilly mornings & evenings.
