This hotel cover some but not all basics for a business traveler hotel. The staff is very friendly and see to that service has a personal feel. They are pretty fast in check in/out process but less so in every other regards. The rooms are fine, clean and comfortable for this type of hotel in the region. Mine featured a fake type of parquet, which was much appreciated over the carpet one sometimes encounters around these parts. Bathroom was also ok even if shower pressure was very low and the water smelled a bit. The rooms are not well insulated for sound so if a day time nap is wanted or silent nights required, one should not get a room facing the Kenyatta road.
On the minus side, the gym is pretty much nonexistant. There are a few machines but none of them worked while I was there. Even the swiss ball was "out of order". The running machines can only go up to 13km/h so if a good sweat is wanted, the early morning streets may be better.
Breakfast is not quite up the price of the hotel. Cereal and bread selection is very sparse though if one wants a more greasy breakfast, it may be ok.
To eat at the hotel is very expensive compared to the selection in town and seems to be targeted at guests who for some reason cannot be bothered to leave the hotel in the evening.
The room rate is quite high for the region but in Kisumu there appears to be few alternatives. Internet is an added cost, which is something I find hard to forgive a business hotel where everyone requires it.
All in all, I cannot dis-recommend the hotel given the lack of clear alternatives but the hotel should get more serious about its offers and standards for the money it charges. If anything, this review should be read as an invitation to someone to create an alternative.
had rooms on 2nd and 4th floor to Kenyatta rd. Both VERY noise during the day but ok during the nigh...

I regret to note that your stay was also interrupted by noise from the road. We are in the process of renovations to make our guestrooms even better and feedback about our new rooms is much appreciated. I noted that you were allocated a room that faces the highway. These rooms have just been fitted with double glazed windows that have reduced noise up to 75% noise from the highway. We advise our guests to ensure that the windows are completely shut to ensure there is no noise. Our maintenance team is however inspecting and testing the rooms to ensure that they are all comfortable to stay in.
We have tested all our fitness centre equipment and ensured they are working. We have also introduced a helpline at gym so that should you have difficulties in future then you can call the line where an attendant will be more than glad to assist.
We have taken up all issues with great concern and are working to ensure that your next experience is enjoyable.
However kindly note that our Internet services are free and are unlimited. I kindly request you to let me know if you paid for the Internet and we will refund you fully because this may have been done erroneously. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused as a result of this.
