“Great value for my money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

We arrived Kisumu at 4am and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and the bed was big and comfortable. My favourite was the breakfast which was buffet and delicious. The staff was courteous and very friendly. I'd give them an A for customer service. The only downside would be that the hotel is close to the road so it can be abit noisy from the matatus but not too bad. would definitely go back there

The Dewchurch Drive is a great choice if you're looking a place to stay while exploring Kisumu and the area around.

The high points are:
- large, clean and comfortable rooms and toilets
- good location for matatus and shopping
- fast internet
- very good breakfast selection (continental / British)
- very friendly and helpful staff

The only spot on the otherwise stellar impression is that the rooms and especially bathrooms are starting to look a bit dated. However, this is just what I would expect from a hotel in this price bracket, all the highlights surpassed my expectation.

So if you're looking for the latest and greatest in hotel luxury, this is probably not the place for you. If, however, you look for a good place to sleep while you're exploring, Dewchurch Drive offers great value. It outperforms most European value hotels, and I'll definitely stay here next time I come back to Kisumu.

Although this hotel will never be classed as Luxury, it's of pretty good standard and checks all the boxes. It's not amazing but it's a good hotel for Kisumu. Good value. The restaurant is one of the best in Kisumu and we have returned after our stay just for the food alone. If you want something special, look at somewhere like Kiboko Bay Resort (much more expensive). If you just need a good place to stay and do some business this is a great value option.

Hotel DewChurch Drive needs a website for itself. Not many travelers have the patience to go and dig deep for information about a hotel. I was adamant seeking for accommodation while in Kisumu. Beautiful place. Lovely rooms. Hot hot shower. It is close to town, Easy coach bus company, Metro city, Tuskys. They have their own van so pick-ups are possible as an option to picking taxis randomly in Kisumu.

Hotel DewChurch is one of those rare finds that makes me reluctant to share it with the rest of the world. I am cranky and fussy when I travel and ten times worse when I am tired, but DewChurch is such a pleasure that I keep going back there. It is quaint, very private and the mattresses are excellent! When it comes to good hotels/guest houses/restaurants, Kisumu sucks big time in its catering for tourists. Food is rarely up to standard and service is beyond pathetic. DewChurch is in a class of its own.
It is close to the centre of town, close to a big bus company and close to a shopping mall. Once inside the gates, it is another world. The staff is excellent. From the security guard at the gate, right through, everyone is pleasant and charming and takes care of your every need.
The place is not perfect, in the sense that the decor is a bit strange and parking cramped when more than 7 vehicles. Everything else makes up for it. Rooms are air conditioned and are spacious. Bathrooms are very clean. Breakfast is included in the price. The prices are shockingly low. When compared to the big hotels in Kisumu, you get far more for your money's worth in Hotel DewChurch. The restaurant can sit around 40 people and the food is scrumptious. The chefs are flexible and like the rest of the staff very courteous.
Very pleasant indeed.
(The hotel has a bigger twin a few kilometers away, Hotel Savannah) which is slightly more upmarket and has a huge swimming pool and spectacular view. Also worth its weight in gold. It is on a much grander scale and ideal for business travelers and tourists but not quite as charming)

Room Tip: The cheaper rooms don't have cupboards, but who cares.

The clean, spacious, comfortable and luxurious rooms provided me with an ideal environment for both work and rest/sleep.
The fast wireless internet connection made it easy for me to work from either the restaurant or room which I found very efficient.
The continental meals offered are well prepared and mouthwatering; I especially loved the fresh fish and tea.
The hotel staff was also very courteous and helpful. The satellite/cable TV in the room made me feel right at home.
I would highly recommend Hotel DewChurch Drive for both business and leisure travel.
