“Clean, comfortable and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

I had a good experience overall. The staff was very friendly, and the owner was amazingly engaged in making sure that everyone was content and comfortable. You will be taken care of. If you meet the owner, ask for a quick version of his family's story - it's an amazing journey.

My room was large, clean, and well appointed. No complaints. There are a few rough edges, but on the other hand you get real warmth, not the sterile, anonymous comfort of a corporate place.

The attached Chinese restaurant is genuinely good - I'd patronize it in New York, and it's a real winner in Kumasi.

I stayed at this hotel for one night for a layover in Kumasi. The hotel is Chinese made and owned. As with many of the other Chinese construction in Africa, you can tell the quick construction that reflects in cracked floors or walls after the building begins to settle. This hotel is ok, it was clean and had free internet but the signal was so weak you could barely use it. The bed was ok, and the AC disconnected as soon as you left the room so you had to endure a hot room and wait until the AC cooled it off (taking around 15 minutes). The food in the restaurant was not that good either. If I could have done it again, I would have stayed at the larger hotels situated about 7 minutes up the road.

The hotel provides a pleasant stay in Kumasi. The rooms are clean and quiet. The water is warm and taking a bath is excellent after spending a day in the rice fields!
However, service is friendly but soooo slow. It was difficult to make a reservation by phone. The restaurant is excellent, but two days of Chinese food was sufficient.

we stayed at this hotel while spending a few nights in kumasi.

Clean and comfortable. Chinese resturant is popular with locals.

down stairs rooms a bit dungeon like but really fine.

Room Tip: ask for upstairs room if you dont like sub terrainian feel of basement ones.

This hotel is in the suburbs of Kumasi, which is a plus that you are away from the hussle and bustle of down town Kumasi.
The hotel is close to a local supermarket and there are loads of local shops and bars around - so variety is great.
The hotel is not too far from all the historical or cultural places that you may want to visit
The hotel staff were very professional especially the reception and kitchen staff for the breakfast area.
No smoking zones are desparately needed in the reception area!
Our room was spacious and fairly clean except for one incident - which makes you quiet wary about the general cleanliness!!! The bathrooms are quite general in decor and facilities. Our shower was not the best, despite the shower curtain being closed while you were showering all the bathroom floor gets wet. You definitely need to have the room cleaned each day in order to avoid any possible accidents!!!

There is a huge bar next door to the hotel which is very noisy at night - so if you do not mind that - then you are okay!
There is a chinese restaurant on site where you can eat in the evenings. Tried it once - not bad - fairly expensive. Non - smoking zones need to be clearly defined especially if you are non smokers and have children!

I am not a picky traveler, but I had to switch hotels THREE times before I found this amazingly wonderful respite. I was staying for half a month, and no hotels in Kumasi took credit cards. This was one of the few, and thank god they did.

The hotel is quiet, there is a really delicious, nice Chinese restaurant in the hotel, and the free breakfast is fantastic. The internet is fast, the tv has some cable chanels, and the management is fantastic. I got really sick while I was here, and the staff brought me free soup. When my air conditioner stopped working, they upgraded me to a nicer room. The only negative side to this hotel is that they have this beautiful monkey caged in a tiny cage on site. It's cruel, and I wish he would set it free.

However, otherwise the hotel is tops. Hotels in Kumasi are not that great, but this one is as close to western as you are going to get. And the staff is really a great group of folks. I never write reviews, but I feel this one deserves one for how well they treated me. Without their excellent service I would not have been able to finish my work, and the project I came over to do would have failed. Because of their excellent hospitality, we were able to complete our work on time and under budget. Highly recommend this hotel. If I come back to Ghana, this is where I will be staying.

When in Ghana, you don't really expect great customer service, but at Royal Park, we got that. The service was great and it was convenient to have a chinese restaurant in the hotel. The rooms were clean, and there was a bath tub (but with no rubber stopper to take a bath). Having lived in Ghana for couple years, it was refreshing to stay at a hotel where it paralleled with Western standards.

Also if you need a taxi driver, the hotel staff can refer you to, Fosu, who is a honest, time conscious (very difficult to find in Africa) and friendly taxi driver.
