“Best restaurant in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

We spent three days in Gonder and tried out Master Chef and The Four Sisters. But we found the restaurant of Goha hotel to be the best restaurant in town. If you are not staying at the hotel, it might be a bit out of your way. However, it is well worth it to get a cab to drive you up the steep hill to enjoy balsamico-braised chicken, herb-roasted lamb or swiss soup. The food is delicious and the waiters very friendly and professional.

“Worth the Trek Up the Hill”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Great service and delicious food. Free WiFi, a nice atmosphere with good views of Gondar (though not quite of Fasil’s complex). And not too expensive – no moreso than Master Chef or Four Sisters, for sure. Under $10 for meal, dessert, and drinks. Yes, good food can be had for less than $3 in town, but for the atmosphere it is worth the splurge.
The night I ate here the restaurant was calm, tranquil.
For dessert I had a delicious creme caramel, perhaps the best dessert I ate in Ethiopia, not because it was extraordinary but because I found dessert difficult to come by in my month of travels here. Definitely populated by Ferenji, with many from the US fitting the stereotypes (loud and expecting US standards), but in spite of this a great atmosphere (I'm from the US).
I've selected the single dollar sign because it is cheap, though it is not fast food or casual.

“Best international food I had in Ethiopia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I enjoyed this restaurant. As mentioned great outside terrace and very pleasant for a drink. Appear to have the best wifi/eftpos connection in the whole country and seems to be the only place that takes mastercard via eftpos.

Good wine list with lots of South African wines (and Ethiopian for the adventurous). I can highly recommend the pasta dishes and every meal my family had of the tilapia was excellent. Also had the elusive lettuce in the salad.

“Unbeatable views, great wifi and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I've been to the Goha quite a few times over the past couple of years. I have never stayed there in a room, so this review is only about the restaurant side of the hotel.

First, as a true Westerner... their wifi is great. It always is. It's never down or slow, unlike most of the other places in Gonder. They always have excellent wifi here.

Second... the view. You cannot beat it. Sweeping views of Gonder and the surrounding area. It's an incredible place to come even just for a cold Ambo, cup of espresso, etc. and to overlook the city. They have really done a great job recently of cleaning up the overlook area as well.

The food has always been good here as well. They have a good menu selection that will be comforting to any American's stomach or eyes. I have had their herb chicken in the past, and this time I had a different dish that was flank steak in some kind of orange sauce with rice. I have posted a picture of the dish here half-eaten, ha.

The service is always very good and attentive, and the dining room is very ethnically themed. You will really enjoy it!
