The LP write-up doesn't do this place justice! We had a great experience at Old Bridge. We didn't have camping equipment, so we slept in their tents with twin beds inside and it was quite comfortable (174 BWP/person/breakfast not included--we recommend the tents with river views). Bathroom and shower facilities were clean and in good condition-- hot water was available--a little hard to regulate, but it's there! There is a self-catering area with a sink, fridge, electric kettle, and stove. The restaurant/bar is in an ideal setting by the river and the food is similarly-priced to other places in town--My friends recommend the steak and beef stew, and the thin crust pizzas (45 BWP) are tasty. There is a campfire every evening and the whole place is family-friendly. Wi-fi is available for purchase by the MB (30 BWP for 15 MB, etc.), but the MBs get eaten up quickly. (There are coffee shops/restaurants with free wifi in town--we heard that Barcelo's (chicken joint) and Kalahari Cafe do, just to name a few--we didn't check them out, though.)
The Old Bridge staff members were incredibly helpful--many we chatted with had good things to say about their manager/owner, David, and we also found him to be a very good guy. The staff can arrange everything from safaris to plane and helicopter rides. We did a 3-day/2-night safari with them and had a great experience: We spent hours cruising along the water looking for wildlife (bring warm clothing and sunblock!) as well as went on walks in the bush (the guides don't have guns, so we were told to be prepared to climb a tree!). If you do a safari through them, I recommend our guide nicknamed C-company--He's a 49-year old, 30-year vet of safaris in the Okavango Delta and he's a good guy. If you don't have a problem using a pit toilet and shower out in nature and sleeping within meters of hippos, then this trip is ideal for you!
Overall, we were very pleased with Old Bridge and highly recommend staying there. The staff made it incredibly easy for us to enjoy the Okavango Delta and we are very grateful!
