I was very nervous after reading these reviews after I booked with Aquamarine. Luckily shortly after arriving for my honeymoon I realised that the reviews I read were either over hyped, or didn't reflect on the true circumstance.
After meeting Rehan the manager, I was pleasantly reassured. My partner and I are both technical divers and we went with four other friends, two tech divers and two recreational divers. Rehan always ensured that we dived separately and put our two recreational friends with their own instructor. Always putting the most experienced guide with the least qualified divers.
In regards to our technical diving, Rehan was extremely flexible and accommodating in how we wanted to dive. The staff were all very patient with our long decompression times and even made trips around us to drop home other divers so they wouldn't have to wait.
I had and all my friends had a fantastic time diving with Rehan, and a special thanks to Dave who was a fantastic guide.
The only problem I had diving in Saanto was in fact a general problem of diving from a remote location. Both Aquamarine and Allan Power had ran out of O2, which meant we had to decompress on air, this wasn't ideal when having long bottom times. The boat which was delivering the O2 from Port Villa never showed up. The boat arrived on the day of our departure. As an apology Rehan didn't charge us for our AL80 cylinders we had hired for the 9 days. Great customer service all round.
I'd like to add a word about a few of the comments about the diving being unsafe. Your safety in diving is your responsibility. It is up to you to perform your checks and ensure there are no issues with your equipment. It is your responsibility to ensure you are experienced enough to do the dive and never dive out of your depths.
As for people running out of gas, this is entirely your fault.
I took all my own equipment so didn't have any issues, our two recreational diving friends were both supplied with new BCDs. So I didn't see any unsafe or worn-out gear.
I'm looking forward to going back to dive with Aquamarine with my rebreather, I'll just make sure that I prepay and book my O2 ;-)
