The diversity on all levels was mindblowing for a desert!
My expectations to see Flamingos were met in excess! All the lagoons had one or more of the 3 species, and their beauty and grace was magnified by their incredible environment, ranging from the reddest of reds to crystal clear lagoons with no trace of salinity.
The landscape is sometimes so surreal you wonder if you're on a nother planet.
The amazin dust devils!
The incredibly starry nights!!
And it just goes on and on......
Be aware that in Bolivia any itinerary might be turned upside down due to blocades, strikes or cancellations!
I missed Laguna Verde because of a blocade, and had to go Laguna Colorada in the beginning of my itinerary instead of at the end, and this can sometimes mean that you might not have a room, as the logistics is messed up.
The day after I had been on the Salar, it was closed for tourists, apparently as a retribution to the blocades. Therefore I recommend no less than 4 nights, as you then have the option to rearrange and still get a trip of a lifetime.
I also recommend making all the arrangements beforehand, and preferraly through a reputable operator in La Paz. I was extremely satisfied with Geo Trek (http://www.umatours.com/travel.php). They were able to handle all the hiccups that occured, and they were plentiful! Every time I had a local problem, I called Geo Trek in La Paz, and it was all sorted out!
