Place is exactly as described in the other comments: warm and friendly hosts, nice and quiet stay 2 blocks from the main square.
The rooms have some nice touches (lighting...) which makes them stand out above the average hotel rooms!

This hotel in Cafayate is absolutely worth staying. It's owned and run by an old couple who moved to Cafayate from Buenos Aires. They really make you feel at home. They can also advise on activities in the region. There is a nice swimming pool in the garden and the rooms are spotless. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the main plaza in Cafayate. If you're looking for a really nice affordable boutique hotel in Cafayate you should definately consider this one.

IF you really want a very warm welcome and feeling part of the family even if you are miles away from home there's an hotel where you can experience all these!!
Hotel Portal del Santo in Cafayate is run by a couple who have sold all their properties to buy this hotel and I think they had done the right choice because they are running it in a special way with passion and love.
This romantic hotel is colonial style, with large rooms a swimming pool for the summer and a special homemade breakfast with fantastic marmelades!!!
If you are lucky to stay longer you'll enjoy the atmosphere and breath the kindness in the air!
I highly recommend it , expecially for the owners, I guess them all the best as they do with their customers making them feeling part of their family!

We stayed here for 1 night in March 2008 and my partner was feeling unwell when we arrived. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, offering to get medical assistance, bringing us whatever we needed and asking after his health. When he appeared for breakfast the next day hale and hearty they seemed as relieved and happy for him as if he was their own family. Free internet access, a couple of blocks from the centre of town.
A proper family run hotel, run by a sweet and kind family. Highly recommended.
