“The feeling of 4 stars for a good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

We drove into town, seeking a place for 1 night as we were passing through, (otherwise I would have stayed longer. It must be one of the most expensive in town (and thats not much) still on the plaza with a view over the square ..... the room sleeps 3 .... bathroom clean, good with extra's like good shampoo (I even washed my hair, shame no hair dryer) and T.V. with movies.
If you have a health problem and stairs are hard, then this is the place for you.
No breakfast, No hair drier otherwise good value.

Room Tip: The ones with a view are on the right.

Great value hotel. Clean with good size rooms. Lovely decor with rooftop terrace and open fire in the evenings. Excellent staff. Central location. Heating is limited in all hotels in Morocco in the winter so do bring a silk liner for guaranteed mobile warmth. Hot water was patchy but wi fi was great. Wonderful views from terrace. Breakfast is a bit dull, would recommend taking it at the cafe d'etoile du sud with the locals which gets the morning sun. Tafroute is well worth a visit. Cycle the Ameln valley and scramble over the amazing rock sculpture hills outside the village. Kasbah serves lovely dishes. The souk from Monday to Wednesday is wonderful, pick up trucks full of oranges and bread. CTM travel direct from Marrakech and Tiznit.

We have stayed at the Salama 4 times now in the past 3 years for climbing trips. It's never let us down, it's great value, spotlessly clean, lovely ambience and the staff are friendly and helpful.

If you need to get an earlier breakfast the café under the Hotel Redouane 50 metres from the Salama does an excellent berber omelette and milky coffee (ask for café nos nos).

We enjoyed our two nights in Hotel Salama. It is a recently renovated mid-range hotel. Our room had a great view over the village of Tafraoute and the impressive granite Anti-Atlas mountains. There was a flatscreen tv in the room and an AC (the latter was broken in our room). The bathroom facilities were ok and clean. The roof terrace also has an amazing view of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast was not included, but cost only 23 dirhams. Staff was nice and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Tafraoute.

This seems to be a hotel that does a good job of being a good hotel. Our room was clean, the staff were polite and helpful and breakfast consisted of half my body weight in bread.
The view from the huge roof terrace is great, especially for sunset.
My only minor gripe is that our room was out back and a bit noisy. Though for some reason we always get the room with no view wherever we go.
The neighbourhood dogs seem to enjoy communicating at night and the mosque kicked things off very early. The neighbour was drying an animal skin on their washing line too which made for a fair few flies, though for me travelling should always involved some bed time insect hunting with a flip flop.
So in summary, don't hesitate to stay here but maybe go for a room at the front.

We (2 adults, 3 children - 7, 4 & 1) spent two nights in this hotel. We enjoyed a lovely suite with two rooms overlooking the square and the main road. The service was very professional, the restaurant good but not particularly special. The roof top was a great place to hang out. We relocated from the grand hotel on the hill, which is well past it's sell by date, and our very happy we did so.

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Salama in Tafraout just before the Almond Festival and found it to be excellent value and very friendly. We had a small balcony with a view of the busy square/parking lot out front. There was a TV with a couple English channels although we never really found time to watch it. The front desk staff was excellent and the hotel is a great bargain at 256dr. Bfst is an extra 23dr a person and is basic continental, although you can buy extras if you want.

The downsides: we got some fairly cold weather for a couple days and even though our room technically had a heater it didn't really do much. There were plenty of blankets, though, so sleeping was no problem. Also, the hot water was sporadic at best. Didn't have anything but lukewarm for the first few days but was extremely hot the last couple. The wifi was fast (for Morocco) although I don't think you can get it in most rooms - we were able to connect if we sat next to the door.

Room Tip: Rooms in front have balconies and a better view.
