“More than I expected!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

I was impressed with this hotel, as I expected some shaggy hotel (just like many hotels near airports are) but it wasn't! hotel was clean, shower was amazing (nice, pressurized, hot water). price is excellent, location is 10 min away from the airport. The shuttle on the way to the airpot was not there... granted we arrived 4 hours late and could not communicate with the hotel (this is why I only rated the hotel 4 stars). On the way back to the airpot, the shuttle worked fine! 100% recommended.

I think everybody who stays there just stays for one night. Generally, the flights to Los Roques, Isla Margarita, Curaçao and Aruba are in the morning, what explains why so many people spend one night there.
It's not a bad hotel. It's just OK. Small but clean room and bathroom, air conditioner and a bed that is also OK.
No breakfast included, which is the only thing I think is bad there.
Well, as I could see by plane, Caracas isn't a beautiful city at all. So the location is also ugly, but at least it's very close to the airport. The good side is that they offer free transfer. For me, it worked perfectly. Nothing to complain about it. They warn people that it's necessary to confirm the reservation 24h before arriving there. I confirmed the stay and also the transfer, maybe that's why I didn't have any problem.

If your looking for an hotel close to the airport (5 min.) the hotel is fine. The rooms are small but clean. The food is good at the restaurant. Transportation is included and not expensive (390 bs. for 2). I have stayed at other hotels close to the airport and it's better than the others and much cheaper. I would stay at this hotel again.

I was looking for a cheap hotel in Caracas to stay one night during my trip to Los Roques. The preference was for a hotel close to the airport (that is located in Maiquetia, 25km from Caracas) and that included transfer from and to the airport. Hotel Catimar presented both conditions and it was also cheap! But don't get excited... The hotel staff said that there would be a guy inside the airport with a sign waiting for us. When we arrived, where was he? We waited for almost an hour, with many strange guys offering money exchange! When the guy finally appeared, with took the van and got scared with its itinerary. What an ugly place to stay! The neighborhood is very, very simple. We didn't feel safe at all. End of the story: we stayed 16 hours inside the hotel room eating Pringles with Coke as we also didn't feel comfortable with the restaurants nearby, including the hotel one. Yes, it's close to the airport, it offers transfers and it's cheap. But I definitely won't stay there again!

we had the same experience as others on this site. We were going to stay one night in Hotel Catimar between flights and had a reservation for the 12th to the 13th of Feb. We arrived late 0400 during the night and just wanted to go to our room and sleep from 0400 to check out 1300. We got a very nice man in the airport to call them, but they were not interested to fetch us or give us the room at all. The man found us another room in Hotel Aeroporto ( not very good, but better than to sleep in the airport). We payed 120 Bolivar for the taxi each way and 650 Bolivar for the room, and 190 Bolivar for a visa each to get into the airport again. In total 150 Euro. Our helper also changed the money into bolivar ( 0400 in the morning, and at a good price, 900 Bolivar for 100 Euro, the official is 600 Bolivar ) He said that if we had payed with credit card it would have been very expensive. Thank you to our helper without whom we would still be in Caracas. BUT no thank you to hotel Catimar.

i ve been one night between two flights overthere, price was 400 bsf for a room, if you are 2 persons, its a good deal, rooms are small but clean, the bar and restaurant is okay, normally the tranfer from and to the airpot are included, but we had to wait more than an houre to get there, although better take a taxi, costs 150 bsf, its mayby a nogo area, but there are not really go areas in caracas, I have a girlfriend in venezuela who works for a travelagency and she recomanded this places because her boss puts everyone overthere in cas of problems with flights, trust me, there is no better solution in that pricerange . . . . 400 bsf whas last week in change on gray market about 35 euros (for 2 persons !!)
