“Great place for tourism”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Both caraquenos and outsiders enjoy the 20 minutes trip and the great view from cerro Ávila (or Waraira-repano it's native name).

Since Caracas is isolated from sea by "el Ávila", you can view both, the city and the sea, just by walking a few yards south or north.

There are a few restaurants up there, and many food kiosks offering typical "sandwich de pernil" (pork meat sandwich) and churros. You'll also find donuts, beverages, hot chocolate and other snacks.

The weather is colder than Caracas and in the afternoon (after 5 pm) it can get really cold. So a jacket or sweater is a good idea.

There's a small ice skating site.

I suggest not going up in a rainy day since the view will be blocked by clouds.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

El Avila is a must visit place in Caracas, I recommend go up in the afternoon and go down at night, so you can have the best views of Caracas. You must go with coats because its cold at the top of the hill

“Quick getaway from the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

The very modern cable car ride was short, and it was nice to see such a noisy city from far away. Made Caracas seem peaceful. Up on the mountaintop we were pleased to see cultural events and good street food, with a few sit-down restaurants. A nice way to get out of the city without having to deal with traffic!
