My wife and I had a most wonderful experience at Te'ora in early March, 2007. Our hostess Sharon was most gracious and helpful and fun to converse with. The setting is wonderful if you don't mind a more rustic or natural setting (as opposed to a traditional hotel room). We thoroughly enjoyed the clean and comfortable room, good hot water in the shower, free access to clothes washer (that was a treat since we were overdue to wash everything by the time we arrived here), and an efficient small kitchen set-up which was a covered outdoor area for our room.

We have to mentioned "Michigan", the lovable house dog who watches the place, Sharon and the guests with great loyalty. Be sure to play fetch with Michigan. Be aware the he makes himself at home anywhere he wishes (except inside your room) and is a joy to have around.

The location is excellent (across the road from the sea) and a 10 minute easy walk to the town center or harbour and Scuba shop. Sharon got me in touch with a car rental agency which was very reasonable in price as well as many recommendations for eating, shopping and site seeing - a wealth of information.

We recommend Te'ora 1,000% for everyone, unless you insist on the usual comforts of a hotel (reception, restaurant, pool, etc.) or you want breakfast included since this is not a B&B. But otherwise, a wonderful place to sleep, veg and chat. There are only 3 well-appointed rooms, all with separate cooking and washroom facility. And very reasonable price. Sharon is an ex-pat from Canada/USA.

Sharon is training a young woman originally from Denmark to help her run the place (sorry, forgot her name) who is very sweet and helpful. She may be the person that meets you at the airport and takes care of you instead of Sharon.

  • Liked — Sharon, friendliness, helpfulness
  • Disliked — Free access to internet using Sharon's laptop was only possible at select times, but this was a bonus anyway and she did her best to accommodate you.

We had a fabulous time on Easter Island, staying at Te´ora.... due to the hospitality of Sharon and her assistant Luna! They were most helpful, in showing us around the village, recommending places to eat, visit and even organised our tours.... in the most relaxed and friendly of environments!! The accommodation itself was really beautifully finished, stylish and clean with great views of the ocean and pacific sunsets.... we had the slightly more expensive cabin called `Raa´. If we return to the island we would not want to stay anywhere else and would highly recommend it!

We have just returned from 4 nights on magical Easter Island where we stayed in the equally magical cabin Te´Ora Raa. We were greeted at the airport with flower garlands and then given a quick tour of the town and shown the best places to eat, where the supermarkets are and all the other facilities you might need on the island. The owner Sharon was incredibly welcoming and very knowledgable about the island and all manner of things. She is able to arrange tours or car hire etc and nothing is too much trouble. The wooden cabin itself was gorgeous, with an ocean view. We woke up and fell asleep to the sound of the waves, it was bliss. The cabin had a great shower, fully equipped kitchen and a living area with balcony to watch the waves. We ate at home most nights to appreciate and spend time in our surroundings, it really was wonderful.

  • Liked — Comfort, sea views, kitchen facilities.

If you are interested in staying on this magical island at a place which is comfortable, friendly, helpful, clean, informative, warm atmosphere, by the ocean ( and I mean BY the ocean ), spectacular views, private as you'd like, social as you'd like... this is the place. It is a goldmine if you can stay here. There are 2 cabanas and I had the chance to stay in both - Iti is on the main level and the other is up over looking the ocean with its own porch. Both are beautful, clean and comfortable. Sharon, the owner, is super helpful, down to earth, and will make your stay. You will fall in love with Michigan ~ Te'ora's beautiful dog who if you would like, will accompany you anywhere...
This is a fabulous place to stay for singles or couples.
I stayed for a week - there was a lot to do and a beautiful place to relax. The island has a magnetic pull and the history of Rapa Nui is intriguing leaving you to come to a couple of your own conclusions of how things unravelled...
I know that my lodging at Te'ora was directly related to how much I enjoyed and treasured this trip. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent value for the price. I am quite particular and this is one of the best places I have stayed... and I travel a lot.

My husband and I had a wonderful time on Easter Island and for us, one of the highlights was staying with Sharon. We stayed in the Te'Ora Iti which was lovely - very simple, natural and rustic which is what we love, but very clean with a comfortable bed which felt wonderful after long days of walking around the island. Sharons place is in such a lovely location, looking out over the water (most of the other accomodation on the Island is a little in-land in the small town with no sea views) though an easy stroll to town in the quiet relaxed streets. Our only regret is that our stay was so short. If you want to get a real feel for the Island and its people, then this is the place to stay. We enjoyed many interesting conversations with Sharon and look forward to seeing her again if we are lucky enough to visit Easter Island again in the future.

  • Liked — The quiet and solitude and Sharon
  • Disliked — It was difficult to mix the hot/cold water for the shower
