“Fantastic Place in El Chalten!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

This hotel was the best we stayed in during our three weeks in Argentina. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and great breakfast made our stay of four nights just wonderful. This hotel is highly recommended!

I reserved a superior type room, only slightly more expensive than the standard room, but worth the difference. We got a corner room with view on both sides, picturing different mountains (but not the Fitz Roy which can be seen only from the other end of Chaltén). The attention in the hotel is excellent everywhere: reception, bar, spa and breakfast room. The breakfast is absolutely first rate and served for comfort till 10.30, supervised by a very attentive Susana, offering freshly pressed orange and grapefruit juices, big assortrment of breads, home made jams, any egg plate prepared instantly on personal demand, cheeses and good ham, croissants, an excellent coffee, fruit salad and fresh fruits, among many other delicacies. The spa has to be reserved in half hour spans, with a big whirlpool and sauna, an ice cold lemonade is offered upon arrival. Our room had a big flat screen TV with 130 channels and wi-fi (most hotels in Chaltén feature wi-fi only in common areas), although there are computers in the hall too for guests who do not travel with their notebooks. A very good king size bed, ample choice of amenities in the bathroom were details which made our stay very enjoyable. There is no restaurant, but the bar offers soups, cold cut and smoked assortment plates, also an ample selection of very good wines. The hotel is located one block from the main street, at the north end of the town, with several restaurants within a few blocks and very near to the starting point of the Fitz Roy trail..

Room Tip: Choose the superior room, if possible corner location

This is a very comfortable facility on the edge of town. The rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfasts were well done and the restaurant staff was eager to please. What made the the hotel stand out is the flexibility and concern of the staff. Our luggage had been lost for some time, and the staff was very helpful in allowing us to call the toll-free numbers of the airlines; most facilities would have been happy to charge for this. There's also a nice bar where we relaxed for a bit with a local beer. The location of the hotel makes it a quiet location for those of us who wanted to catch up on our sleep.

Excellent price/quality ratio.
New and with nice furniture, the rooms are quite big
What makes the difference is also that the staff is professional but at the same time extremely warm and friendly.
A place where to stay again.

Let's start with the breakfast. How disappointing this has been in most hotels we stayed in during our trip through Chili and Argentina. But in this hotel everything was freshly made, with fresh baked croissants, cake, etc. All very good.

The rooms are nice and quite large with good beds. The bathroom is simple and quite small but serves its purpose. The hotel is nicely decorated with a warm feel to it. They have a separate bar area with cosy sofas. Good WIFI. And the staff was very friendly and spoke good english.

There is also a 45 minute daily spa (jacuzzi / sauna) or fitness included in your stay. The bathrobes are really really small (quite rediculous actually) and the jacuzzi could have been cleaner. But the sauna was heavenly after a long hike.

We even got a Christmas present from them. Really nice :-)

A perfect place to come into out of the cold! The decor was very relaxing and comforting after a long day outside. The location is perfect next to the Fitz Roy trail, as well as the town. We slept like babies in the comfy bed and ate like truck drivers at the wonderful included breakfast the next day. The staff was very accommodating. The internet did not work that great, kept on going in and out; however, I do think it was the location of El Chalten.

We were blown away by the service received at this hotel. Staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We received complimentary chocolates in our room one evening! The hotel is very new and therefore the rooms are in excellent condition. It is warm and comfortable which is perfect following a long day of hiking. There is private use of the spa for 45 mins per room which added to the luxurious feel of the hotel. Highly, highly recommend Destino Sur.
