“Great host great accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012 via mobile

Stayed during November & found Florencia & staff extremely helpful & accomodation excellent. Standard room possibly on the small side but suited us, although Superior rooms more than adequate. Would definitely recommend Latitude 49 for quality & value.
Thanks Florencia

We spent 5 nights in the ground floor apartment and really enjoyed the flexibility of providing our own meals and the privacy of the apartment. Supermarkets are a bit limited but you can make do. The location is great and very close to the start of one of the major treks. Lovely host and friendly family dog.

After a long 2 days of travelling along the Ruta 40 we finally arrived in El Chalten after midnight, because of some mechanical problems with the bus.
We had e-mailed the owner the day before that we would arrive around 23:00. Fortunately she was so kind to let somebody wait for us until we arrived despite the later hour (this isn’t a hotel after all).
The next morning Florencia (owner) was preraring a simple but nice breakfast for us (toast with marmelade, tea and cereal with milk or yoghurt) and gave us some advise on the various treks you can make around beautifully situated El Chalten.
Our room on the second floor (first door on the left) was big, well heated, had a good bed and a nice and spaceous bathroom. From the windows you have a clear sight on the Fitz Roy if the weather allows it. There are two other rooms in the building. You can watch DVD’s on the television in your room.
There are no fixed telephone lines in El Chalten (apart from 2 “locutorio”offices where you can make calls) and your mobile phone is useless, but like most hotels in El Chalten, Latitud offers wifi. The signal is most of the time not strong enough for Skype, but this is the same everywhere in El Chalten.
This was the first time we stayed in a Bed & Breakfast and enjoyed it very much. Florencia is a good host and creates a relaxed atmosphere. We can strongly recommend this B&B.

You want to feel at home albeit half the world away from your city ? Then you cannot go wrong with Latitud 49. They get excellent reviews, and they are just that, plain beauty.

It is a budget rental, so dont expect fancy stuff, but, are you looking for fancy when you are hiking in El Chalten ? Look, we stayed in the upper room in the B & B, it has an excellent view of the Fitz Roy, excellent countryside ambience. But the best is yet to come, in the rental package you get Florencia & Florencia, they are just wonderful hosts, they will treat you as if you were part of the family, you will even forget you are paying for your stay.

The prices are good, the breakfast is good. You can open the fridge and use what's there as if you were home, you can prepare your own tea, yogurt, anything that is available. They will let you use the PC, will discuss with you about the trails, the weather, politics, your love history, anything you want to talk about. They are themselves in love with the region and they know every bit of it and will be able to suggest, modify, encourage, advice you on every endeavor you are willing to take in el Chalten.

So if looking for a cosy, hospitable, familiar rental, there is no way you can go wrong with Latitud 49.

Florencia, keep up the good work! That's what makes a difference.
PS. You can put a bigger banner on the sidewalk so we dont miss your entrance anymore!

Room Tip: You should try booking the room on the second floor. It is more expensive but it is worth the extra...

We stayed here for four nights (the apartments are a few blocks away from the B&B). Good breakfast, shower, bed, etc for a very reasonable price (AR$200,- / night). Wifi is a bit slow but that is normal in El Chalten. Florencia the hostess is very nice and helpful. The pizza place beneath the B&B is also great.

We stayed in small double room with internal window February 2012.We opened the window during the day into the corridor to have fresh air in the room. The room was clean but small.I would recommend to take the upstairs larger room with beautiful view but more expensive.
Florencia was very friendly and very helpful. She gave us lots of good tips about hiking in the area. She recommended to us to take a mini bus to El Pilar and hike from there to Mt Fitzroy area.

We logged an impressive 9 nights in the upstairs apartment and would highly recommend it! With four adults in the apartment (2 couples), it was a little tight on space, but we got a great price and had a wonderful week. We used the kitchen extensively, roasting chickens and cooking up a storm: though the kitchen is tiny and the town doesn't offer much in the way of supermarkets, we found the apartment to be a cozy home base and made do with the supplies and tools we could find.

The wind, of course, whips through the town and you can hear it through the roof. With many heaters, we were never cold. Hot water was fairly plentiful and we enjoyed borrowing DVD's from our hosts. Though we only planned to spend 7 nights originally, we stayed longer after having 4 days of driving rain and low cloud.

The strangest thing about the apartment (and El Chalten as a whole) was the quantity of flies: they were everywhere! Without exaggeration, I killed no less than 100 flies in the apartment, and dozens remained. We noticed flies elsewhere in town, so this isn't probably the apartment's fault, but since we spent most of our indoor time at the apartment it's natural that we noticed more flies there as a result. Not a huge deal, since they don't bite, just something to be aware of if you hate flies.

Anyway, it's highly recommended and a great amount of space for a couple, or an even better deal for 2 couples who are comfortable with close quarters. We'd look them up again on our next trip.
