We did the Ice Trek tour on Lake Viedma near El Chalten in early December.
The tour commenced at 9am with a cruise on Lake Viedma to the glacier (about 1hr 15 mins).
From there we scrambled over rocks for about 20 mins to a rest point where the guides fitted our crampons for our ice trek. Overall we spent about 1.5 hours trekking on the galcier.
The staff were great. The main tour guide, Laura, spoke excellent english and provded a lot of information. The other support staff were also very helpful and assisted with the more difficult portions of the trek. The instructions on how to use the crampons were succinct and easy to follow. There were plenty of photo opportunities too!
Overall, we think that this was a unique outing and a well run tour.
