“Pleasant Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014

We visited Wasaga Beach from August 14 - 17, and stayed at the Luau for the three nights we were there. We found the resort very clean, attractive and well-maintained and the management and staff very welcoming and helpful. The owners have a policy of no visitors for guests, thus ensuring the resort is quiet and secure. We were involved with an event taking place in Wasago so didn't have the time to enjoy all the facilities offered by the resort. However, based on the comments of other guests, the service and facilities (heated pool, fishing, lawn games, etc.) couldn't be better.

Room Tip: Wifi is weak. Service better the closer your room is to the office.

What a beautiful surprise this resort was. We have stayed at other resorts and did not enjoy it as much as this.Friendly staff and these people really thought of everything. From ping pong to coffee filters. Location is perfect so close to the beach and strip. The river is the backyard for fishing or watching the ducks and boaters go by. Loved it,can't wait for next year.

We recently spent 10 nights at the Luau for our family summer vacation. This has been our first and only choice for summer vacation for well over 15 years. The owners and team/staff that look after this beautiful property are welcoming from the moment you enter the property to the moment you leave. The gorgeous grounds, including golf green grass and beautiful flowers placed throughout the property, help you to relax while you are either at the large heated pool, or sitting by the river watching the boats and Sea-Doo's go by. We met some great families there and our 2 kids (12 and 18) enjoyed meeting and spending time with their new friends, fishing on the river and going across the street to the beach. It is wonderful to know that our kids are always safe and are able to thoroughly enjoy every day of their summer vacation at this amazing property. It was sad to leave, but we look forward to being back again next year. Thanks again Monique, Nick, Angela your family and team for a WONDERFUL vacation.

The Luau is a family place - a real find in Wasaga, where motels full of rowdy young people in bikinis and surf shorts rule. It is located across the road from the beach, no more than 300 metres away. The pool and grounds are clean, the views overlooking the river are lovely and the rooms, while simple and not luxurious, are clean and comfortable. We found the beds particularly comfortable and frankly, when returning from a sandy beach with kids, the last thing I want is a room filled with luxury furniture. The two bedroom suite was spacious enough for five of us and we took most of our meals in the kitchenette, which was equipped with everything but a stove. We found the proprietors friendly enough, without them imposing on our time together. The responded to all our requests and questions efficiently. My only complaint is the BBQ - charcoal! I tried for an hour to get one going, met lots of fellow guests who tried to help us, and finally gave up. I think for this price, gas BBQs should be available. I'd pay an extra $10 a night for the propane. But this is a small complaint. We will be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

My wife and I spent five days at the Luau Resort in Wasaga Beach. Besides being beautifully manicured with landscaping and hanging flower baskets, the Luau is immaculately maintained. It is obvious that Monique and her staff take great pride in their property and their hard work shows. The property sits on the banks of the Nottawasaga River and the beach is right across the street. Many people that we talked to come back year after year. We can certainly see why.

Room Tip: Cottages, rooms and suites are available.

Stand-out motel in Wasaga Beach--well-run, beautifully maintained, pretty and peaceful. We decided to stay in this party beach town for a single night rather than face a long same-day drive home from Barrie to Ottawa. Well, once we found the Luau Resort we ended up staying five nights. There's a lot of accommodations here but most we saw were plain at best and many a bit too rough-and-tumble for us. Not all of us come to this world-class beach just to tan and drink! The Luau reminded me of the wonderful small family-run hotels you can still find in the Caribbean. It is nestled between the beaches and the Ottawasaga River. So you just walk across the street to the big beaches (it's all provincial park along the beach so there are virtually no accommodations right on the beach) but when you're at the motel you can sit in a lovely lawn chair and watch the action on the river--boaters, water skiiers, ducks... The whole property is green, spotless and full of gorgeous flowers all around the heated turquoise salt-water pool. We had a single standard room with a refrigerator and it was just fine--and the bed made for a great sleep. Owner Monique imparts her European touch to the place, including expecting good behaviour from lodgers which we were grateful for on a few occasions with other guests. We would definitely recommend the Luau.

We just happened on this place and let me tall you it is a gem. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. WiFi was excellent and met my business needs.
The grounds are the best kept that I have seen in years and the pool was heated and spotless.
Location is great as it is only a quick walk to the beach and all amenities. We spent two days here and would have liked to stay a week. Wishing now we had known about this place earlier. Next year we have booked for a week.

Room Tip: Hard to choose a room but we did pick room 25 for a week next yr. It has a kitchenette and a king si...
