“location is great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

i have stayed at the luau resort twice now. the positive things; grounds are nice and kept really clean, great scenery right on the river, nice heated outdoor pool. the negative things; way too over priced $209/night for the motel room, the room was small and very basic, no chairs outside to sit at night, loud at night...mostly by the traffic and lots of motorcycles. one last thing, the owner, i forget her name is not overly friendly, she's a little cranky! probably won't return again! hope this helps.

Room Tip: spend a little more money for a suite or cottage!

After we arrived we took a 10 minute walk down to the beach and passed many other hotels/motels. These did not look like places we would want to stay in. Not even for a night. These places were all rundown and people had to barbecue in the parking lot. They were also full of teenagers who didn't seem to mind. We were thankful we picked the Luau. It had an outdoor pool and picnic tables with 2 charcoal barbecues. Our room was small but clean. 2 bedrooms and living room with fire place. Kitchen with stovetop, microwave and fridge. It was stocked with everything you would need.
If you're looking to party, book one of the hotels down the road. This is not the place for that. If you want a nice, clean, relaxing place, this is the hotel for you.

We drove to Wasaga without reservations and after driving around the area, we found this hotel. It looked clean and lovely with well maintained grounds. We were not disappointed.
Our room was small on the second floor with two very comfortable beds. Large flat screen tv with built in dvd player. It was very clean and the bathroom sparkled. Lots of towels of every size.
There was a pool although we didn't use it. It was very clear that they took great care of the pool and the grounds with lots of flowers and shrubs. Plenty of quality lounge chairs.
There is a wide selection of DVD's in the office where fresh coffee was brewed for guests each morning. There is an upper patio area over looking the river where you can sit out in the morning with your coffee or have a night cap.
There were mosquitoes, bring bug spray if you are going to do that.
There seemed to be an assortment of rooms and cottages for families and BBQs.
The place was not noisy, very peaceful. Great location, only 5 minute walk to the beach, LCBO, restaurants. Very friendly and accommodating staff. It was not cheap but we definitely recommend.

We drove up from Niagra for a few days by beach. We stayed in lovely 2nd floor suite that had full kitchen. It really was a one bedroom small apartment and I could easily live there part of year! Grounds were lovely with gorgeous flowers. Pool sparkling overlooks river out back. There is badmitten and pingpong table a really nice touch. Across road down path is beach with wooden board walk takes you down to shops and restaurants. Buyer beware any on beach VERY $$. Take hike back to main drag and get all same much cheaper. Pizza joint pretty good. If this place is in your budget go for it!! Note any others we saw close to beach look pretty yucky and it is a 20 somethings party place on hoilday weekend.

Room Tip: If you get a room with kitchen you will have all you need to cook!

After arriving at our regular Wasaga Beach motel just to find that it had changed owners and was not at all what we were accustomed to. We (our family: myself, my husband and children aged 8 and 10 and the family we were travelling with) decided to look for alternate accommodations. Luckily, we happened to find the Luau!
Our children were very disappointed to find out that we were leaving a place that they had spent the last several years at until our arrival at the LUAU. They were all surprised to find an abundance of activities and a POOL! They loved the shuffleboard, ping pong and badminton and oh yes...did I mention the pool! And just across the street from the
Even the adults were impressed, beautiful grounds, well appointed rooms, and a dock to park the Seadoo right on the river. Monique the host and the Luau staff were always welcoming and hospitable and always there to answer any questions.
We have already booked for next summer! The Luau Resort is our new "regular" Wasaga destination.

Room Tip: We stayed on the upper level and enjoyed the quiet and private quarters.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Luau and were pleasantly surprised at the super cleanliness and half decently up to date furnishings in the room !
The grounds were kept beautifully and the river being right there on the back of the property was excellent for the kids fishing.
it was about a 5 minute walk across the road to the beach but it was no big deal and the beach was very well groomed daily. They have a very nice heated pool with lots of lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas.
The staff was very helpful / friendly and accommodating.
the only reason I gave it 4 stars was the fact that there are only charcoal BBQs (which you provide the brick and fluid) and the price is a little high per night for my liking , but if you have a family and want a non party atmosphere...than this place is great!!
The pictures from their site are very representative of the property (apparently unlike a lot of other resorts in the area)
looking forward to going back!!

Clean renovated suites. Price point was higher but location was great to beach and river. Was $171 taxes in. Little on high side. Bed was very comfotable and unit was quiet. Good wifi, and suites were decent size.
