My boyfriend and I visited Catch 22 over the labour day weekend. The ambience and décor in this lovely little place is romantic and tasteful. The food was absolutely incredible and unique. The only downside is that while we made reservations for 8:15, we were not seated for another 25 minutes. The staff did apologize sincerely and the situation seemed rare as we were the only ones waiting. The people who had our table apparently could not take a hint...they had been sitting there for two and a half hours! And NOT because their food was slow to come out. Our meal totally made up for that. Our waitress was also very sweet, knowledgeable and efficient. It would have been nice to be offered a complimentary drink for the wait but c'est la vie. The stuffed sole was the best I've ever had and my boyfriend enjoyed his bowtie pasta. The sole was cooked perfectly and so were the vegetables...zucchini and red pepper. The sauce on the rice was so unique and the seafood stuffed inside the sole was tender, succulent and delicious. The romaine salad was pretty good, a touch over dressed.
The only other downside of our experience was that around 9pm a family with young children was seated near us. I ask you....who brings a three year old to a romantic, upscale dining establishment at 9 o'clock at night? I understand the owner, Bob, is a very family orientated person but there's a line....if there aren't any crayons to colour paper table cloths or kids menus...DO NOT bring your children. Of course it isn't necessarily the fault of Catch 22 but please draw a line for your patrons.Of course the two downsides I've mentioned here are circumstantial and probably ( hopefully ) rare. I would not hesitate to recommend. Anyways, look forward to returning on our next trip up. Certainly one of the best meals I've ever had!
