It's usually possible to find something wrong when you're staying away from home, no matter how small a niggle. This lovely B and B breaks the rule here. It's run by two people whose entire mission seems to be to make you feel welcome, comfortable, well-fed and rested. It astonishes me that something in this price range can offer so much and to such a high standard.
The rooms are sizeable and have benefitted from a local designer to give each its own personality. The bathrooms are larger than in many hotels. Use of local resources is key here too and at breakfast you can learn where each ingredient has come from. In each room is a folder containing more information than you will ever need to help you on your stay - whether somewhere to find dinner after a short walk, restaurants within a 15 minute drive, or countless examples of what's on in the surrounding area, it's all here. And many five star hotels could learn a lesson from what can be offered on your welcome tea tray!
The location is perfect too - just two minutes walk from the centre of Crickhowell and five from the river. This is a beautiful part of the country and I defy you to find anywhere better to stay than this.
My only sadness was that I was here for only one night... but I can hardly blame Julian and Alison for that. I will return as soon as I'm able to and I look forward to it hugely.
