Lovely cosy cottage immaculate and finished to a very high standard, well located for walks in the beacons - short walk into town along the river. We really enjoyed our week there and would recommend to anyone 10/10 on all counts !

We stayed in the cottage nextdoor to Bronfelin, Troed Y Rhiw.

Initially we had wanted to book Bronfelin because we loved the look of the kitchen, however having stayed in Troed Y Rhiw and looked round Bronfelin I can confirm they are equally lovely. Troed y rhiw does have the cosiness factor, which we really enjoyed.

The cottage is beatuifully decorated and the king-sized bed is really quite difficult to leave in the morning. From the bed linen to the exposed beams and other touches too numerous to mention, it really seems like money has been no object when these cottages have been done out. The wood burning stove is about the best we have used - you cannot fail to light this thing and it was extremely efficient in heating the house.

We indulged in a plethora of walks quite literally form the cottage door and did not see a soul in the 6 days and countless hours we were out, which was great.

The cottage is a pleasant 20 minute stroll from town, and as long as you take a torch you can take the flat route walk back from town after a meal in the Neuadd Arms (good homemade curries and inexpensive homebrewed beer).

Do try the butchers - it seems a bit "league of gentlemen" when you walk in (as does the rest of Llanwrtyd wells at the outset) but dont be put-off - the meat is brilliant and the town is too.

Roger was laid back and friendly - he couldnt do enough to help and we wanted for nothing all week. The owners' b&b, Ardwyn House, is worth a mention - Roger and Katie were keen to show us round when we went to drop off the keys on the way home. The bedrooms are breathtaking and have been sympathetically overhauled. Its difficult to imagine anyone being disappointed with any of the rooms we saw.

A final word about the cottage - we had booked to return before we even left.....its that nice.

If you are into biking then this is a great place to base yourself. Been here twice now and both times really good proper biking. The scenery is dramatic and great reward for your climb. Good forest track riding and some good single track routes. Also near to more structured riding such as Afan which we rode on the trip down. Last time was a bit snowy but excellent fun. The cottage is clean and perfectly suited to outdoor holidays. Good sofas and bath for those needing a relax after a hard days ride and only a short trip into the village for the pub. Wood burner and Rayburn keep the place very warm and all areas well equipped for either a big breakfast or big supper when you get back. Roger and Katie are very welcoming and Roger might even join you on a ride if you need directions. Big parties can hire the cottage next door too. There is a great river running up the valley with some good swimming pools so I am hoping to bring the children here in the summer.

We stayed at the Bronfelin Holiday Cottage from 11-18 of September 2011. The weather was very good,; only rain on our way home(!).
This cottage has 2 bedrooms for 2 people and one single bedroom. nice and clean shower, one large bathroom, all with thick white towels. Thick nice carpet upstairs and stonefloor downstairs. The house is warm and cosy, because of the darkblue Rayburn, on which you can easily cook, after reading the manual. In the lounge there are 2 couches and 2 chairs, many cushions and even a library, with books and many videos and games for children and adults.
Wood is supplied for and also soap, dishwasher tablets and washmachine powder is available.
Folding table in the kitchen makes it perfect(for playing cards or unfolded for dining in style).
The burning stove in the lounge is a welcoming factor for the cold evenings. The surrouding area is from a outstanding beauty, and can explored by mountain bike, our by foot, or by car. the Spar in the village can supply you with eggs and bacon(yam!) and for a pub lunch their is always one in the nearest town for budget prizes.
this was our cleanest and nicest B&B in years, we recommend this cottage to everyone !
Good value-for-money item.

Roger and Kate know their stuff and had great tips on days out and routes for amazing views. The cottage was beautiful and we had everything we could wish for and more. Tasteful rooms and decor. Two bathrooms! And a wonderful and warm kitchen.
We also enjoyed our visits to Ardwyn house were Kate and Roger made the children extra welcome by letting them use the trampoline and tree house. We had a truly wonderful stay!

We stayed here for a week in Apr and it was fantastic. Roger and Katie are really friendly, helpful and certainly know how to run a holiday cottage. Everything is spotlessly clean and the cottage is very well equipped to an exceptionally high standard. You can walk out of the door and you're into the hills or short drives away and there are even more walking / mountain biking options. The village is a 15 min walk or 5 min drive and has some eating & drinking places and a smattering of shops (the butcher is awesome) and a petrol station.
If you're thinking of visiting S Wales, you MUST stay here, we'll be back again.
