We have taken our elderly parents to several Warner hotels and know what to expect so we were under no illusions about the dining and evening entertainment. This time we were on our own and we were surprised how much we enjoyed it. OK the dining rooms are a bit like a canteen-tables too close together etc & queuing for the carvery-one of my own pet hates. However I have to say that my parents do love the carvery experience as they can actually see & choose exactly what they want to eat. I prefer to be waited on and you can do both at Warner hotels. This time we did not go to the main entertainment-not really our thing, but we did enjoy the pre-and post dinner entertainment in the Elwy bar.
The grounds are stunning with views over the valley & we enjoyed an organised walk before we explored on our own. There is a sensory garden & maze plus many more delights we just didn't have time to find. Also enjoyed a couple of hours touring the castle itself-well worth the free visit.
We chose a Royale room and it was one of the nicest rooms we have had. Clean, well furnished, modern, stylish bathroom suite. Views on two sides over the grounds, even from the bathroom! The room also had a turret room annexe with small table & two chairs. Rapunzel, eat your heart out! We woke to see the sun rising over the hills and during the day watched squirrels, rabbits and various birds from the window.
There is a short walk outside to the facilities but we were blessed with glorious sunny weather (yes in October too!) & two large umbrellas are provided in the room just in case.
We had fun at the wine tasting and pasta making classes plus a great day out in Snowdonia & Penrhyn Castle. All the staff were cheerful & helpful-always smiling & saying hello.
My only negative comment would be that there is nowhere to just sit and read in a quiet room with comfy sofas etc. There is the Elwy bar plus two bars in the main building but no "relaxing" rooms.
I agree that a Warner hotel may not be to everyone’s taste but in my opinion you have everything you need-food, drinks, entertainment, spa, scenery. You don’t have to take part in everything! If you don’t want the quizzes, dancing & entertainment etc go in the bar or back to your room. It may not be a top class West End show but think how much it would cost if it was and it wouldn’t be on your doorstep. The extras are a bonus for those who enjoy them. Just pick & choose then relax and enjoy what you want to do. We did.
As long as you don't mind a short walk outside to the amenities chose a Royale room. Look for th...
