Went to this b & b last october when i was staying over in Barmouth for a couple of days.
I thought the room was very dated as it felt like a grannys room. Shower was good to be fair and was clean. But i was at the front of the hotel and all i could hear all evening was everyone outside having beers been all loud and drunk so i just couldnt sleep. But for the price and location i suppose it was ok. Also check on parking too as it can be a nightmare finding parking.

On my way back home after a trip to Harlech, I stopped in Barmouth for a bit of lunch. Since the weather was nice (and I was not sure about the dog being accepted inside) I sat outside. I was told I could come and eat inside with the dog but I chose to stay out. I ordered at the bar and about 10 minutes later my scampi and chips arrived. It was really nice and quick.

Barmouth is a pleasant sea side resort easily accessable from the midlands through a very scenic route through the Welsh marches.

The Tal-Y-Don hotel is centrally located in the small town within a short walking distance from the beach. It provides unpretentious budget accommodation above an extremely popular pub/eatery.

There are no hotel guest parking facilities provided, but there are no street parking restrictions from 6pm-9am for overnight stays and a private carpark nearby provides overnight parking for £3.00 for improved security.

The menu offers good honest home made pub grub, and an excellent full breakfast is assured.
There are a limited number of ethnic restaurants within easy walking distance for guests with more adventurous palates.

The room was very clean and freshly serviced with a tea / coffee making facility provided, and the bed was very comfortable although the front facing rooms would benefit from inner secondary glazing as an added sound proofing measure.

The staff were polite and friendly, and we would highly recommend this hotel to guests who require a budget stop-over if touring North Wales, and are at ease within a very busy popular town centre pub environment.

On a wet, grey, cold day during our stay at nearby Bontduu, we took a trip to Barmouth and had our lunch at the Tal y Don.
The bar was very welcoming and the men in our party were happy with the real ale on offer, which was Jennings Cumberland.
The meals were very good indeed, the sausages in particular, were so good (they get them from the prize winning butcher next door) we bought some to take home!
The service was quick and friendly and we all enjoyed our food so much that we ate there on a second occasion.
The surroundings are nice too, with lots of pictures of old Barmouth on display.
All in all, a nice place to eat, with good food served well and good beer.

Staff very friendly. The room was fabulous, spotlessly clean and well equipped, even a sewing kit!

The room was very hot which made it difficult to sleep.

We had to miss breakfast as staff were still waiting to be let in at 8.00am and we didn't have time to hang around. If breakfast time is 8.00 - 8.45am, you would presume that the cooking would be well on the way by eight.

Room Tip: Room no. 5 far too hot and noisy.

I rang to book a meal for my aunts 80th birthday, Would have been 14 people plus a baby. The first lady I spoke to gave the impression that they were just too busy but said if I pre-ordered food we could be accommodated in their dining room. I asked her to email the menu so that we could pre-order, The menu did not arrive. I rang twice to ask where it was but spoke to 2 different people who were not particularly helpful. I was asked to ring back when the owner was there but, by this time, I just felt that the custom was not needed or wanted. I therefore cancelled and booked at another eatery. Poor show Tal Y Don

Stayed for one night - we are regulars to Barmouth on a Yearly basis. Room was lovely (decoration chinese style) Comfortable Bed, facilities excellent in room apart from air conditioning. Our room was extremely hot almost unbearable, however staff were helpful with the situation. Breakfast was very yummy the following morning. Considering it is above a very popular pub with back and front beer gardens, noise could not be heard. Will definitely stay again
