Myself and my son stayed at Tawelfa in December on a visit to Barmouth, Jan and David are the perfect hosts, the food was of a very high standard and very well presented. The pancakes are to die for, the rooms are spotless warm and very cosy. The town and sea front is in easy walking distance. The wifi is free and a strong signal, overall the best B&B I've stayed in. Well done Jan And David

Another last minute decision to visit Barmouth following a particularly good weather forecast for two days. Its’s one of the great benefits of being retired, that you can just pack your bags and go off while the weather is good. Never has that been of greater advantage than this year.
If you read our previous reviews, you will see that we are great fans of Barmouth and its surrounding area. We tried to book in at other places that we have stayed at in the area and enjoyed, but unfortunately they were full for this night. It was therefore by chance that we chose the Tawelfa Guest House, and with a little apprehension as we were advised that there was such limited parking on site that we might have to park on a road away from the premises.
Yet again, this year, we fell right on our feet. It’s true that we had to park away from the guest house, down the hill. David our host actually accompanied us down the first time, to a cul-de-sac below the road that the premises are on. It is easily accessible by a hard surface footpath down the hillside. This could be a problem to anybody with mobility issues, though I suspect parking arrangements would be made on site for them, if at all possible. There is certainly no problem unloading and loading from the roadside, immediately outside the guest house. We felt quite happy leaving the car in the cul-de-sac.
We were welcomed by our hosts, David and Jan, with a cup of tea and piece of cake. I believe they had developed the house, and set about running it as a guest house, based on their experience of the hotel business as customers and employees. They clearly want to do things right with their own business, and there are so many small touches that are evidence of this effort, even down to giving you verbal advice about the fire arrangements. I’ve never had that anywhere, but I have experienced the panic and crush on more than one occasion when fire alarms sounded in the middle of the night at large hotels, where nobody had read the fire arrangements! Don’t be led to think that this concern for detail is technical and cold – they are about ‘doing it right’ to look after every aspect of their guests welfare and enjoyment. The breakfast was excellent, as was the room (there was even a sofa in the room).
Jill and I can only praise the care that was given to us in all aspects of our stay. We look forward to returning, presuming there is a vacancy when we want it.

We stayed over night, with one of the best nights we have had for a long time, it was like being at home and so clean, The breakfast was one of the best i have had in B&B's, so we are hoping to go back later this year.

We stayed at Tawelfa for 2 nights, bed and breakfast and would recommend this to anybody. Jan and Dave are a great couple and made us feel more than welcome. I must say, what a beautiful house! Both Jan and Dave should be proud of what they have achieved and made our 20th anniversary very special. Hope we can return again next year, thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed at Tawelfa for 9 nights at the begining of September for bed, breakfast and evening meal. Everything about it was spot on. The meals and accomodation were really excellent, but the thin that really made the stay were David & Jan. They were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Mary & Don
