“Surprisingly good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

Read the review from KarlR and sort of agree with the comments about the need for investment but we went in here with very low expectations - British seaside holiday town promenade pub and all that, and ordered something anodyne from the menu to try to minimise potential for disappointment and went for the Chicken Supreme but what a revelation! It was the most superbly cooked piece of chicken with a fantastically flavoured sauce accompanied by really good sautéd potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh vegetables. Same was true for the other 4 meals we ordered - which were all cooked to a high standard and prepared with clearly fresh ingredients. The kids meals were homemade chicken nuggets made with breast meat - very impressed.

Whoever they've got tucked away in he kitchen clearly knows their business.

Had booked a table. We where on time but waited over an hour for our meal. Then to top it all we where over charged by £30. It was rectified after we checked the bill ourselfs.

“Disappointing.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

We visited this hotel for an evening meal because its sea facing beer garden drew us in. The views are fabulous.
The hotel itself follows a pattern common to Barmouth insomuch as it is run down and in need of some TLC,the toilets in particular needing a major overhaul.
The food we ordered (sirloin steak and pasta arrabiata) were a mixed bag, with the pasta being declared "lovely" and the steak no better than a chain pub offering.
Hopefully some money will be invested in this place because it has some charm.
