“biker friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

any bikers looking for a B&B in Barmouth should enquire here first as Danny and Lisa offer that little bit extra that us tourers are looking for such as a secure double garage for the bike and are understanding of the need to dry off a tone of wet gear should you need it, fortunatly we had good weather when we arrived so no need but bikers are well thought of and wellcomed.
we had a lovely welcome by Danny and Lisa and we were shown to our room which was of a high standard, stpotlessly clean, light and fresh, great en suit shower with instant hot water, plenty of room with tv and coffee/tea making facilities def value for money was more than cofortable and superbe views of the bay! we would recomend the isis pizza place for breakfast as we ate there but there are two others all only 50 yrds away.we hope to return again and stay in the future, phil n lisa

My wife and I stayed here for three nights, we arrived on our motorcycles and Danny was there to meet us. He all ready had the garage door open and the motorcycles were kept in there with room outside for several cars.

The guesthouse truly is in a spectacular position, the views over the bay towards the mountains are wonderful. The beach, shops, pubs and restaurants are all close by, we used the Anchor for our breakfasts but there are many other choices nearby..............we had no complaints about the Anchor though.

It is just a short walk from the train station and we took a trip up the coast which also offers spectacular views (thanks Lisa).

We thought our room was lovely, two chairs to sit and enjoy the great view, very clean, good shower, tea & coffee, fresh towels each day............just what we hoped for.

Danny and Lisa are a friendly couple and both offered us local advice and suggestions about places to visit/things to do which was useful for us, but they are in no way obtrusive.

If we are back in Barmouth we would not look for anywhere else to stay, it would be a waist of time.

I have been a visitor to Barmouth for many years and the quality of the rooms at Sunray are top rate.
They are clean and have excellent views no matter which room you stay in. Tea making facilities are available as is the freeview TV.
Parking for residents is all catered for and there is even a secure lock up garage for motorcycles and cycles.
Only a minute from the beach and many cafes nearby. A truly great place to stay with such warm and welcoming hosts.

Room Tip: There are different rooms available so it is best to speak with Danny or Lisa regarding your require...

Four friends stayed with Darren and Lisa over three nights. The location couldnt be beaten, overlooking the harbour but just enough away from the main drag. The views along the beach or across the estuary were sublime. Darren and Lisa are very welcoming, but laid back....and full of tips and advice if required. The rooms are comfortable and basic (but not without charm) and just what was required for friends on a walking and biking break.
If we decide to return to Barmouth, there is no doubt we will try to book here again.

As a biker this was a great place to stay. Secure garaging for the motorcycle, spotlessly clean and tidy room and en-suite, comfortable bed with decent duvet, sheets etc. making for a good night's sleep as well as friendly, helpful and laid back owners. Thank you Danny and Lisa for a very pleasant stay.
Just one note about the restaurants in the town. The number 9 seems very important. Nearly all the restaurants and pubs stop serving food after 9 PM and you can't get breakfast before 9 AM!

i stayed once by accident when i was out on my motorbike and was a bit late getting back so decided to find a hotel. Popped in danny showed me the garage to park my bike and Lisa showed me to my room.
Clean is not the word, perfection. Went back with my wife in the car and showed her and she couldnt believe the place. The best thing is they give you a key and leave you alone. The best views of Barmouth ever. great bed and shower and all the resteraunts and cafes on your door.
They have two apartments too on the end and i promise ive never seen any as good. anywhere!!

This is a bright yellow building perched on the corner of Barmouth promenade which when sitting in the attached garden area gives you quite good views across the sea front and the beach. The house looks like an art deco style build and occupies a good position for access to the nearby beach, pubs, restaurants, quay and other amenities.

We stayed for a single night as we were cycling route 8 as part of the national cycle network. If you are cycling then there shouldn’t be an issue with storing bikes as there is an attached garage that can be used to keep the bikes in.

I guess the big selling point of the Sunray guesthouse is its location. With regard to the room, I was a little disappointed that it was a little small and tight for £60 a night and there wasn’t any breakfast which I did find a little unusual for a guesthouse. I guess you just get used to the bed and breakfast routine and we probably forgot about this part as the booking was made some time ago. There is a small flat screen TV in the room as well, for me it was a little too small for its position on the opposite wall to the bed as I had a problem reading some of the text on the screen. The information in the room also says there is Wi-Fi available but both me and my partner weren’t able to see the network on our phones. There is also a fridge available in the hallway to store any drinks if needs be.

The bathroom was very clean and had a good shower in and the bed gave us both a good nights sleep. The room information also recommends The Last Inn pub as a place to eat at. We had a wander over there but was a little put off at the £13.45 price tag for vegetable curry and chips and decided to eat somewhere else.

Danny and Lisa are welcoming friendly hosts and once you’ve been shown to your room they just leave you to get on with things. It was an OK stay for a single night.

Room Tip: A room at the front gives views over the sea and quay area.
