“Perfect...apart rom the location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

Oh wow if this place had a sea view it would be the epitome of perfection! We made this fluke discovery on Cardigan High Street for a spot of lunch and was thrilled by the menu. It's been a long time since I've felt excited and spoilt for choice by a menu. What a wonderful range of great quality food...and drinks! Loved my iced coconut coffee latte....and so many tempting others. We all had a lovely lunch and I took some of their interesting and gorgeous homemade cakes away with us. Our waitress was really helpful and went out of her way to tell us about some interesting places to explore while we were visiting the area. Amazing café, wish we lived closer to visit again, we would definitely be regular customers! Well done to the owner for such a fantastic place !

“Lovely cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Popped into Food for Thought as we were looking for somewhere to have a quick bite to eat before returning to Newport. We both ordered toasties, and it was such a pleasant surprise to have proper "sealed toasties" with piping hot fillings rather than fillings between two pieces of toast that seems to pass as a toastie in so many places these days.
This was a very pleasant cafe; my only complaint was that it took some time for them to come and take our order despite not being overly busy in there. However not withstanding that, the service overall was very good and our toasties and coffees were brought to us with minimal delay once we had ordered.

“Very nice cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch in Cardigan and spotted Food for Thought. Having spotted the menu had some vegan options so went in. The cafe was packed but luckily we found a table and the staff cleared it quickly.
There is a detailed menu with lots of options and a chalk board with specials on, staff seemed very busy but still found time to discuss menus with customers and take orders.
I ordered the smokey bean chilli and had this with salad and sweet potato fries which were very unusual and tasty as was the chilli - full of flavour and homemade. The other members of our party had an omelette and chips and the daily special of cawl - a pork and vegetable broth that was apparently delicious.
We did not have room for cakes after but the selection looked good (but a vegan cake option would be good)
Staff explained there might be a delay on hot drinks due to staff shortages and we did have to wait a short time for hot drinks which were very good.
This is a popular cafe and one with a varied menu with lots of choices on.
Great to see gluten free sections of the menu and very good vegan options too.

We had scones and chocolate cakes with tea. Really good maybe a bit pricey but that's not unusual. wish there was more outside seating as we have a dog

“Really Rather Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

Stopped here for lunch on our way through. Good menu with tasty food & very large helpings - with speedy service this was excellent value for money. The only thing wrong with the place is the tables - they aren't flat. Every table (and I mean , every) has a bulge in the surface. which means that if you're not careful when placing your plate it's like trying to eat off a rocking horse. Possibly this quirk was intentional, some sort of fashion statement but if not then the timber was warped - quite clearly the tables were all cut from the same piece of wood.

Would definitely stop again, by which time the owners will jopefully have taken a sander and plane to the table tops.

Try the deluxe hot chocolate to drink but make sure you ask them to put the marshmallows on before they add the cream on top
